The Wizards currently have the worst record in the NBA. What has happened? The Wizards simply have been worse in almost every statistical category from last season' from shooting from 3 point range, passing the ball, rebounding the ball, and even possessing the ball. Wall and Beal have appeared to decide to give pointers on how the team should be run through the media which has done little to improve the team play. In the meantime, Wall is averaging a career low in assists, Beal is taking more 3s but his TS% is still the same despite having a healthy John Wall. Otto Porter appears to have hit a shooting slump, and is even rebounding the ball worse than Markieff Morris while playing more minutes. Scott Brooks also appears set in playing Austin Rivers over Satoransky, which goes against most statistical reasoning unless there is a reason that Satoransky has regressed. The Wizards switching defense has also been pretty bad.

The Wizards go against the OKC Thunder who also had a tumultuous start to the season. The Thunder started off 0-4 but reeled off two wins including one against the Clippers who steamrolled the Wizards. If the Wizards want to maximize their chances of winning, they have to keep the Thunder off the boards, play better defense, and run a competent NBA offense. The Wizards should attempt to avoid stop settling for mid-range jumpers early in the shot clock.

Here is the last time the Wizards beat the Thunder; note the Wizards were playing without John Wall but Satoransky did a great job in slowing down Westbrook who only had 13 points.

Satoransky did a great job on Westbrook, still shocking to think about.

Tough 1st game. National TV, having to go against Adams head up with Westbrook driving at your throat all game. If Howard does well and we win then he is Superman fr. I kinda see this as the Wall-Howard p&r vs the russ-adams p&r all game. Whoever executes better wins and right now that favors okc

Perhaps like A.P. has done for the Redskins so far, Howard can come in and be a surprising spark for the Wizards. Not much else to hope for right now.

Adams is probably a good match up for him.

Back from Grizzlies thread...

I must be in the twilight zone...Gortat gave up an average of just over 1pt per possession and one of the worst defenders in isolation! Thats terrible! Just making sure we are talking about the same Marcin Gortat?

Howard, well he has a tough road ahead of him. I have no comment on hope atm.

Welcome, owneroz -- glad you're here.

Can you cite something for the assertion that "Gortat gave up an average of just over 1 pt per possession" please?

Note: that's an inquiry not a challenge (though admittedly I am skeptical).

So conflicted...
I want to see them do well because I want success for each player and the team, and I want to see them win.
However, I also know that in the long run, we need change to be ultimately successful, so I want to see them loose as many as they can.

What would you like me to cite exactly? You mean provide substance to this claim?

D12 is not even trying hard and he's making an impact. Transition D is garbage.

I thought we weren't supposed to switch as much on D. I guess Kieff didn't listen.

Westbrook could have 70 tonight the way John and the rest are defending him.

He could have 80 and still lose. Westbrook is one of the most overrerated dudes in the league.

Defense is a total joke. They’re not even trying.

Dwight looks phenomenal on offense, though.

Brooks just refuses to stagger the starters with the bench
