Time to trust the process.

What are some other GM candidates you'd like to see?

Tommy Sheppard deserves a chance to make his case, but sadly I think his association with Grunfeld somewhat disqualifies him.

My candidate, Danny Ferry.

Almost a no-brainer outside of the controversy about his racially charged comments imho.

His dad Bob Ferry played for the Baltimore Bullets, and was GM when the Bullets won the title.

He's from the area, was part of the Spurs, both as a player and executive, and did a credible job building the Hawks team, with his core contribution probably being the hiring of coach Budenholzer.

I think Danny Ferry would definitely be worth a look.

The organization would be smart to ensure that it was a careless unfortunate remark rather than a pattern of stereotypical statements. If he passes that vetting I think he could be a good option.

I just reviewed Danny Ferry's draft record and it's pretty lousy. He really had no good picks to speak of. Hell, we even conned him into absorbing Antawn Jamison's awful deal. And he gave us a pick for it!

He did better in free agency. He struck gold on Millsap. And Demarr Carroll was a good pickup for cheap. He also traded cash for Kyle Korver.

I vote for Sheppard for 2 reasons.
1) I actually think he would be a good GM with his relationships around the league and an analytic person could be brought on to compliment.
2) I have a hard time believing Ted dives into a complete rebuild of the FO & Roster...especially in season. So TS allows a seamless transition in a lot of ways and can hit the ground running.

So I'd vote for Tommy to take Grunfelds role and a "Hinkie-type" as a VP.

At the end of the day.
1. Beal will be traded as-soon as possible
2. We reboot with the new, in-coming players
3. Ted and Ernie call it a day.
4. Ernie stays, sorry

Pretty sure Hinkie is persona non grata and won't be an NBA GM ever again because he admitted he was tanking instead of lying about it

If we ever get to the point of hiring a new gm. I'd prefer a young up and coming gm with a fresh set of eyes like Chauncy Billups and not a retread.

Mike Zarren of the Celtics or Justin Zanik of the Jazz. With either of those would probably need a “senior advisor” for a few years. The league could set us up with some wise old head.

I don’t know much about Sheppard, but he’s still here which is not a good sign. Hinkie is blackballed. Danny Ferry still tainted by perception.

I’d like if Caron Butler was associated with team again in some role.

Ernie will never retire... or die.

He says he's from Hungary, but last I looked, "Hungary" was close to Transylvania.

Ernie's a vampire. He sucks blood. He's sucked my soul from me for years.

They'll interview people and Ted would just give it to Tommy Sheppard.

It sucks. From what I've heard and Kevin Broom also knows Tommy... he's better than Ernie BUT THAT'S NOT SAYING MUCH!

Sigh...

I want someone that has had some experience in the front office of well-managed team though. Not a guy just because he happens to be smart and a former player.

I’ve met Sheppard a few times, and worked with him a little bit selling some software to Monumental a few years back.

Bad idea. Nice man but he’s the opposite of progressive. He’d basically be the same as keeping Grunfeld. He’s as much (if not more) complicit in this disaster as Grunfeld.

My list

1. Mike Zarren - Boston Celtics
2. Troy Weaver, OKC Thunder
3. Gersson Rosas, Houston Rockets
4. Justin Zanik, Utah Jazz
5. Brian Wright, San Antonio Spurs
6. Trajan Langdon, Brooklyn Nets

Zarren, Wright, and Langdon are your young guys... the rest have been around and all have a good eye for talent... much better drafting than the crap we have had to endure.

I like Billups. Not just caping for a job--didn't like what he saw from Cleveland and withdrew, and not just because LeBron was leaving, which was clear to everyone. He's exactly the kind of energy we need representing DC in the FO. He's not going to fall so in love with a guy just because we drafted him. John got coddled too much by Ernie and by extension the coaching staff.

Billy King would be a very Wizards choice.
