Maryland got a break. They needed one. This team just combusts under pressure, late-game situations and against the press. The point guard play last night was horrendous at times. Not just Cowan, but Ayala was awful at managing the game. That's why Ayala is not a true point guard, or not yet. He's a combo guard with a nice 3-point shot but can't really get his own shot because he's not particularly athletic. Also was bad against the press. That 10-second call with about 1:30 left was one of the worst turnovers I've ever seen. Turge is on the sidelines and is not even telling his team to get the ball over the timeline quickly.

They usually win with their defense, rebounding and Bruno. Last night, they couldn't even rebound and went small a lot because Sticks was in foul trouble and it worked. That's a look that Turge needs to considering going to more. Morsell at the 4 allows them to spread things out. Run more. There's no reason an athletic team should be playing with such a slow pace and to not pressure the ball. They rank 313th in pace of play and rank last in the nation (351st) in turnovers forced. That's incredible for a team that does play sound man-to-man defense.

Not seeing the Terps national TV game...

Unfortunately, referees for the preceding game keep calling time. Now, it's in overtime. This Tennessee vs LSU might outlast the entire first half of the Maryland vs OSU game. This game is like watching bowling. Knockdown defense and terrible officiating.

Well, let's call a spade a spade - Bruno Fernando has become a stud, and he's gonna score when he's not double-teamed. He made a really unselfish pass to a cutting Wiggins for a thunderslam that tells me he's going to take the next step to becoming one of the better centers in the NBA. The IQ is going up. He's getting how to play against double and triple teams. Yeah, he'll still get confused now and again and turn the ball over, but that's partly inexperience. Otherwise, he'd be the 2nd player picked in the draft.

Serrel Smith reminds me of Jordan Crawford. Same size. Same quickness. Definitely not shy about shooting the ball.

I hope he never says he thinks that he's better than Michael Jordan.

Glad I missed the game. Maryland has won there since 2015. Nice. They were 2 for 19 from three, had their typical 17 turnovers. They laid a big-time egg against an improving PSU team.

I'm more worried about turnovers, horrific starts in just about every game and Sticks. He's been awful the last month or so. His last five games? He's averaged 6.5 points per game and 5 rebounds. NBA? He's thinking of testing the waters? Let's hope that he becomes as smart as Bruno and realizes he needs 25 pounds and a year of seasoning before he even considers. He's so far from being ready. Or maybe he's just hit a wall and is thinking about the next level instead of helping the team. Some guys lose focus and let's hope he regains it.
