No matter how good she recruited this year I will not expect Brenda Frese to properly utilize her bench.

She likes to play a very short bench. Her teams usually do not excel defensively. Fatigued players and her favorite players taking the shots usually leads to losses.

,

I expect Wiggins to take a huge step up this season and be MD's 2nd best player.

Ayala surprised me last season with his shooting, but the rest of his game was kinda blah. We'll see if he can be a legit starter this season.

I'm not a Morsell fan. I think Donta Scott is better suited for the role that Rothstein brings up for Morsell. Kina ironic that Rothstein brought up Scott first, because I think Scott should take Morsell's role.

They are massively overrated.

This team will be no more successful than the other Terrapins teams.

I think you're right - though I'm always hopeful at this time of year. It's weird that they're rated so highly (7th in the nation?) when they didn't get even one blue chip type recruit.

They beat Holy Cross 95-71, but there are two very telling statistics: just 13 assists (to 8 turnovers) and a very poor 5-27 3-point shooting.

They are massively overrated.

One positive about this season's team - they have ridiculous depth. The Mitchell brothers both look like they can play - and they're the 9th and 10th players on the team right now. I watched Hakim Hart play in AAU games, and he's a talented 6'6 guard - he's the 11th man. And 7'2 Chol Marial is expected to be healthy at some point this season.

Not the biggest fan of Turge but I bet you're wrong.

This team is loaded.

Ridiculously deep.

I bet this Terrapins team turns out to be even more disappointing than the team with Diamond Stone. They're totally disjointed on offense. It's very easy for opponents to get to the rim. Turgeon is not a great coach and this team is a bunch of individuals who are ruderless. Anthony Cowan is a scoring point guard and not a physical defender.

I'm yet to see why this team is rated so highly.
Bye bye Beal.

Watching Rhode Island game now. Agree with CCJ. The Terps continue to make bad decision after bad decision. It’s been that way since Turg came here

Big positive was Aaron Wiggins - 13 points (on 9 shots), 13 rebounds, 4 assists/1 turnover, 3 steals. He keeps playing well - he could be a 1st round pick.

The hype...

The result...

Lady Terps scored just 54 points. Loss.

Brenda Frese is a great recruiter but I'm convinced she is not a great coach.

Maryland men were awful against Rhode Island. Selfish play. 14 turnovers in the first half. How could you not be ready to play in the second game of the season on national tv? I’m already starting to dislike this team. Yes, they are deep but they don’t press. Sticks also is bigger but where is his improved jumper?

Yeah, one thing you'd think he'd do with a team that deep is press and run. Every year I hope Gary Williams gets through to him - Run. Give your team a break, and let them get some easy baskets, because you're NOT a good half court coach. You will never be comparable to Tony Bennett.

And let's face it - players just don't develop their skills under him. This season is his last chance, imo.

Terps looked like they ate too much turkey at the start of this one but came back to make it close at the half.
Terps should win this if they stop turning the ball over.

Under 6 ft point guard, had 91 points in the last 24 hours. 40 vs Davidson & 51 vs USC, he seemed to hit from anywhere he wanted.

Maryland better not come out slow or they could find themselves down 30 in the first half. Just ask USC.

I missed this game. Seems like the Terps got a ton of free throw attempts. Horrible free throw shooting from Cowan (7-13) and Ayala (4-9). Overall, the Harvard Crimson outshot the Terrapins from the field. Their main scorer had 30 points.

Despite all the depth, it seems to me Turgeon's playing five guys. Essentially four guards and Sticks in the middle. Cowan, Ayala, Morsell, and Wiggins. Lindo only got 2 minutes playing time. The twins barely played. Smith, who scores like McRae does with the Wizards. Very efficient scorer. Hakim Hart, I can already tell, is a naturally good passer. Turgeon's team do not show any kind of discipline and order on offense. They keep storming back in the second half to win games; but they haven't played anyone.

Markus Howard of Marquette is REALLY going to go off on the Terps.
Bye bye Beal.
