Big win for MD the other day against 12th ranked Illini. Morsell comes back from a broken face to lead the Terps with 19 points. Donta Scott continues to be Mr. Consistency. He's quietly having an outstanding season. https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/donta-scott-1.html Interesting that they won it without Ayala - who had a groin injury. Hart was the primary ball-handler - so they played without anyone who could be called a point guard.

I watched the game, and wow - Minny's offense was terrible. I'd like to give MD's defense all the credit, but clearly Marcus Carr is a 2 and just isn't cut out to play the point - much like Ayala with MD. Minny's center got in foul trouble, and that was it. MD even missed a lot of FT's and still easily won. I think the difference was - MD was smart enough to double up on Carr, while Minny couldn't seem to handle Ayala. Carr dribbled around aimlessly for way too long. Almost every shot they took was with less than 5 seconds left on the shot clock.

What’s crazy is that Minnesota was a top 20 team and I believe the only team to put the smack down on Michigan. Maryland can’t even come within 15 points of Michigan.

All that movement is actually a good thing. I saw Ohio State maintain goodness when they went to Ryan day instead of urban Meyer. I see Alabama reloads on assistance every year under Nick Saban. It looks like Mike Locklies got to going on. I’m going to leave all those typos because auto correct is ridiculous.

Got it going on. Locksley is a year away from breaking through. There’s a lot of talent now on the interior.

Improved offensive and defensive line play plus a better Taulia will win more games in the B1G.

Only 10-8, but 3 road wins against top 20 teams and a home win against a top 25 team. Not pretty, but they do play defense despite not having a big man. Ayala's really come on as the man when they need a bucket - even if he really isn't a point guard.

Ruzious and Wizardspride, I know you guys are diehard Maryland Terrapins basketball fans. I had a thought about Aaron Wiggins.

Wiggins has not improved in three years at Maryland. He has all the physical attributes of an NBA starting shooting guard. I remember another player who used to be at Maryland.

https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/nick-faust-1.html

Faust had a tremendous senior year at Long Beach State. His team was very competitive in the Big West. If nothing else he went out of college on top. Check out his senior year stats in the link above. Huge difference from when he wasted his time three years at Maryland. Faust basically became a reliable go to scorer. That is when Aaron Wiggins will not get if he stays at Maryland.

Joshua Tomaic is currently enjoying a nice run with a very good San Diego State team after transferring from Maryland. (I suggested He consider Hawaii to another Terp who I’m sure knows him). Joshua even made a better choice!

If I were advising Aaron Wiggins I would ask him to consider transferring to another school like maybe Duke or North Carolina if they’ll have him. Better still Texas Tech or Baylor.

Wiggins would be a very high profile senior and I think he would make the NBA the same way Damion Lee has made it to the Golden State Warriors. Lee really wanted to go to Maryland but that was the year Rasheed Sulaiman was picked up by Turgeon after he left Duke. (I bet he wishes he chose another school in retrospect).

What do you think about Wiggins deciding to transfer?

This season Frese is getting the most out of her roster. They don’t have as much talent as some other Lady Terp teams but they have tremendous chemistry and floor balance. They average over 90 a game and lead the NCAA in scoring.

Don’t forget they’re also doing this without Angel Reese, who came out the gate looking like the #2 recruit in the nation that she is. It will be interesting to see how they incorporate her back into the fold as they enter tournament season.
