I think Turgeon might have hired his eventual replacement. I don't know what others think, but to me - Danny Manning is still a big name.

He may be a big name to some but in reality he's just a random coach who was fired from his last job.

"It's going to be an unbelievable display that I know you will enjoy," athletic director Damon Evans said at the time. "With all the bells and whistles. That's audio. That's sound. That's even a new control room."

The board was announced as part of a facilities improvement campaign that also included:

Field Hockey & Women's Lacrosse Stadium: Comprehensive enhancement of the facility transforming the existing 5,500 square foot facility into a 12,000 square-foot team house.

Stanley Bobb Baseball Player Development Center: State-of-the-art indoor hitting and pitching facility that will allow players to train year-round in a controlled environment.

Softball Player Development Center: State-of-the-art indoor hitting and pitching facility that will allow players to train year-round in a controlled environment.

Golf Player Development Center: State-of-the-art indoor hitting facility that will allow players the chance to practice in any conditions.
Track & Field Stadium: Brand new competition areas for every aspect of track and field, bleachers for home meets and to allow hosting of conference championships.

Soccer Stadium: New amenities for athletes, coaches and fans.

Gossett Hall: expansion to provide locker rooms, a weight room, and a medical support area for a multitude of student-athletes across all teams to access.

That, of course, doesn't include the massive $200 million-plus indoor football facility at the former Cole Field House, into which the football team will soon relocate. Or the new roughly $30 million basketball practice facility that will begin construction this year.

Decent shooter off the bench, but... why not wait until Wiggins, Ayala, and maybe Morsell decide on whether or not to stay? Or have they all decided to leave?

He's a Walk-On.

Technically yes, but he's also a transfer who committed to MD (and visa versa) and has plenty of college experience. He's not some random guy who made good on a tryout and will only be used in an emergency. The tweet you linked even says they have high expectations for him for next season.

Honestly, I think you've answered your own question.

Morsell and Wiggins aren't expected to return.

Turgeon says of Wiggins: "He has goals of where he wants to go in the draft, and if that doesn't work out for him, he'll be a Terp again."

My guess is Ayala, Wiggins, and Morsell are all gone. The transfer pickups are pretty good, especially Wahab. But the best pickup could be Danny Manning. How long will he be there? Hopefully long enough to pick up a couple of quality DMV players that they would ordinarily have no chance at from the WCAC. At this point, I don't know if there are many quality transfers left to replace those three, especially Wiggins. Fatts Russell, Donta Scott, Wahab, and Hakim Hart. Maybe Aidan Martinez is legit to replace Ayala. A combo guard. Julian Reese and James Graham would have to provide depth up front. Could Morsell now return for last run and take Morsell's spot at one of the wing spots?

Bizarre - he must have been on the outs at MD to settle for DePaul. Let's face it, his role here was recruiting, and they haven't had a 5 star recruit in a long time - though I'm thinking Julian Reese may be better than advertised.

Agreed.

This could make them less inclined to return -- competition (minutes pressure) and not a well-defined role.

THEN AGAIN, HE'S A BODY. A PRACTICE PLAYER ... See the stats ... :noway:

Maybe, in a strange way Turgeon getting a new deal ran him off??

Nah. Just heard that DePaul offered a big salary increase.
