Will Beal lead the league in MPG?
And if so (he's a hair behind Harden in the #2 spot), why the heck are we breaking him down now for so little potential return?

1) He wants to make All-NBA Team (to become eligible for supermax extension)
2) They want to make the playoffs
3) Brooks has no clue

I think it's his choice with the backing of the front office. He's all-in trying to qualify for the super max and if they make the playoffs while doing so, then that even looks better.

Re: Will Beal lead the league in MPG?
Beal is 14 minutes behind Jrue Holiday in total minutes so far -- which seems more important than mpg -- especially since he's what 12 seconds/game behind Harden? Who's only played 59 games.
Plus, Brad could only get a super-max with the Wizards (you have to be playing for the team that drafted you -- or have been traded while on your rookie contract, which he wasn't obviously). We could only afford to give him one if we'd traded Wall first.

All the more reason to trade him before he breaks down. Remember, he was getting stress fractures earlier in his career. And there are times when he's sitting on the bench looking dead tired.

Beal looks dead tired because he likely is dead tired. He's playing far too many minutes. But I hope for BB's sake that he makes All-NBA.

I think people overstate this too much. There are 11 other guys playing 35+ minutes this year and every one of them is at least 3 years older than Beal.
If Beal feels fine, I don't mind him playing 37 minutes. What I don't want is for him to play hurt.

With Holiday out for @10 days, it's now pretty much certain that Brad will lead the league in minutes. He played 2977 regular season minutes last year; this year he is on track to play 3067.
Of course, last year he also added @200 minutes in our 6-game losing series vs. Toronto.
