Thank You Ernest Grunfeld

Thank you Ernie Grunfeld for your service to the Washington Bullets/Wizards franchise. Your hard word and dedication to the organization is unparalleled and was clearly evident by the respect you garnered around the league.
Ernie Grunfeld made the Wizards a respectable franchise again drafting 2 young stars as the core of the future. The Wizards became fun again to watch, locking in many prime time schedule tv spots. Ratings increased, fan excitement and support skyrocketed, and the team atmosphere and morale thrived. Like all executives in positions of decision making in professional sports, some decisions receive approval from the fans and some don’t. Some transactions work out and some don’t. If a GM is judged alone on a few bad moves, no one would have a job. Mr. Grunfeld was skilled at salvaging a bad situation and turning it into a beneficial one. Many of the players Ernie Grunfeld has drafted actually have become assets on other teams and overachievers even though they did not work out in Washington for various reasons due to injury or cohesiveness.
The shoes Mr. Grunfeld leaves behind will not be easy to fill. Being GM of a professional sports organization is no easy task even though it appears to be from a fans perspective. There are far more duties behind the scenes and more than meets the eye than just draft selections and trades. Ernie Grunfeld’s tenure in Washington will go down as a hallmark and staple of leadership in the history of DC sports.
We wish him the best in his future endeavors.

Oh God... gag me with a spoon. Someone make this go away please.
In the meantime, isn't this what you meant to write:

There is a reason Grunfeld still has his job....Because he knows what he's doing!! ...Ernie actually needs an extension. This team is built to hang with anyone in the East...
The future looks bright for this team and i hope everyone is retained on the coaching and management staff as i see this team being one of the best in the NBA.
Ernie Grunfeld's record in 16 years at the helm:
487-526 -- what more evidence than that could anyone need to prove what a great GM Ernie was.

I laughed. Ernie, take your shoes with you! We'll have to fumigate your office.
His shoes should be filled... with Lysol.

I wonder if anyone has compiled in durational order the consecutive-year tenures of GMs with single teams? How does EG's W-L % stack up (or stack down) historically?

Thanks for coming by and delivering Ernie's valedictory. I'm a little surprised that you didn't mention the strong position that EG has left the franchise in. His successor will have a full cupboard of talent and other assets to work with.

Ok. I'll say a few nice things...
Aside from the losing seasons which were caused by injuries to key players, he compiled a few winning seasons.
He took care of under appreciated players by giving them exorbitant salaries.
He got rid of draft picks so that the owner will not be saddled with unneeded salaries from players whose growth patterns would hardly allow for immediate time on the court.
Ok that's all I got...
Look, EG is a Flintstone in the era of the Jetsons. Its time.
