I've always liked John Voight. Good character actor.

So Fred Katz from The Athletic mentioned him before the draft
• There’s a little free-agency news related to the draft, too. The Wizards recently brought in 26-year-old German big man Johannes Voigtmann for a free-agent workout and are considering signing him, according to sources.

Voigtmann has spent the past three years playing for Baskonia of the ACB league in Spain, possibly the second-best league in the world behind the NBA. If he were to come to the NBA, he would project as a backup center, who could stretch to the 3-point arc. Other teams have shown interest. He averaged 9.3 points and 5.6 rebounds in 23.4 minutes last year while knocking down 41 percent of his attempts from deep.

Hmm. I like him.

He doesn’t have to be the most athletic if he has that quick trigger reaction speed and court awareness and anticipation. Good footwork. Shifty. And surprisingly good hands in these highlights. There are good passers on that squad. Nifty passing Bigs and guards alike. But pretty much every dunk was caught in motion and at speed. And they risked passes you wouldn’t send to a guy you know had bad hands.

On defense he’s slim with narrow shoulders and a high center of gravity. High stance. And no booster rockets in his jump. So he won’t be wide on the perimeter. And won’t deter shots with blocks. But he looks to have good court awareness and should anticipate well so that may make up for being a step slow in reaction. If you can act, you may not have to react. He does have long arms despite the narrow shoulders. And sees the play developing.

On our squad: he’s stretchy. We always need a ranged Big who is reliable to shoot. And need a back door target for our smart passing guys like Saty and Troy. His catch and shoot is so quick with a high release point and high arc, it won’t be blocked much. If it goes in he will make passers look good padding their totals. He’s not going to dribble a few times and take away their would-be assist. He gives room underneath for Brad to get loose. Gives depth and insurance for Bryant.

Okay. Interesting. We still need rebounding. And threat deterrent on the interior. But offensively I see where he can fit.

Doesn't rebound or defend? He'll fit right in with the rest of our bigmen.

He has pretty good mobility and athleticism for a big, if you ask me.

Tommy Sheppard is def putting in work to acquire talent.

Perhaps Rui Hachimura's backup at PF?

A 3 in a 5's body. Apparently, he's known as a good passer who dribbles well, but I'd question if those skills translate to the much quicker-paced and athletic NBA.

I was coming to say the same, Ernie would have waited to see what scrapheap vets were around and he would have signed one of them, at-least Tommy is searching for talent and fits.

Well that doesn’t make much sense. He averaged 9 rebounds per36 in the slower pace fewer possession euro league. 14-9-4, 2-1 A/TO. .605 TS%, last season he had a .658 TS%. 50/40/90 guy as a center. He’s in his prime at 26 years old. Not sure what there is to not like.

BUT YODA!!!
