I think Ernie must have inherited Tommy’s body for this trade.

Somewhere Ernie is chewing gum, nodding, and smiling at this news.
CJ had been contributing very little anyway, time for the Admiral

I was real annoyed at the Howard for Miles trade because I knew Howard could be bought out. The trade cost us $6M in luxtax flexibility and was instantly recognizable as a stupid trade.

However, I can't really bash Sheppard for this injury. This wrist injury obviously isn't related to the foot injury he had in the offseason. It's just bad luck. As injuries go, the Wizards have been pretty fortunate so far relative to other teams (ignoring Wall).

That said, we must now finish the season with $62M worth of players in street clothes.

What bothered me as much as the foolishness of the trade was Sheppard seeming to pat himself on the back for it - bragging about his first move as GM. Karma heard him. But hey, as long as we have team culcha, we're good.

Tommy was a little over-excited at the powers that came with his new job.... :)

Miles was an NBA corpse, & I'd say this might well end his career. Hate to see that happen to anybody.

On the bright side, he'll have plenty of time to figure out how best to invest the $8+m he's got coming in!

That's basically a TPE worth $4.37M, but we can only use it to trade for an expiring contract or sign a free agent off of waivers.

What it really would do for us is allow us to utilize our $4M of luxtax space to absorb salary from an over-the-tax team like Portland without having to use our $5M Sato TPE. We can preserve that TPE through the early part of July and use it as an asset in a trade.

Could we sign a PF/C please? Someone (rebounding/shot blocker) from the G league maybe? I’m tired of looking at opposing shot charts like the Memphis game. 70 points in the paint make my eyes hurt.

I'd look at Udoh, Tyreke Evans, Yabusele, Sam Dekker, or one interesting name...Deyonta Davis

I think having two defensive savants like Udoh and Mahinmi would do a lot in helping our young guys improve their defense, so that would be my choice.
High IQ defensive bigs really do wonders for team defense and we need Troy Brown, Bryant, and especially Rui to improve defensively in order for this to work the next 2-3 years.

Evans is banned, Yabusele & Udoh play in China and Dekker is in Russia. Davis plays in the G-League and I wouldn't be against signing him to a 10-day deal or something.

Thanks for the heads up on Deyonta Davis, I’ll have to find out more about him.

I’m also trying to find out more on Donta Hall too. Another big from the G league.
