Johnathan Williams reportedly joining the Wizards

Maccabi Rishon LeZion announced the departure of Johnathan Williams on Monday noting that the 24-year-old American forward received an attracting offer from the NBA. The Washington Wizards are expected to ink him to a guaranteed deal, according to Moshe Barda of One.co.il.

Lock this, if it doesnt happen.

Interesting - if the Wiz pick him up. I liked him when he was at Gonzaga - he got a little lost in the shuffle, because they had other quality bigs ranked above him - but he still got plenty of PT. He reminded me of Tristan Thompson - except less bulky - built more like Jeff Green. He can probably play some smallball center in the NBA.

I wonder if this means Bryant and/or Wagner will be out longer than expected.

Interesting. His numbers suggest he's a decent rebounder/defender, but he doesn't even try to shoot 3's. He's was a 56% FT shooter on 48 attempts.

Rebounds. Defense. Those are things that the Zards desperately need.

I don't see Brooks playing him at PF though - unless perhaps Williams is a half-decent midrange shooter. Our offense relies on the PF being a threat to space the floor.

Dunno. I think we are looking at the bottom of the barrel. Kid seems halfway decent playing at a level below the NBA, but may not have enough game for the bigs. Still, maybe he just needs to be in the right system...something that is high paced, and that will break him out. At 6'9", and 225 lbs, he is at best a small ball PF, not a C. But his video clips dont necessarily show that he can be successful there. He looks more like a 'tweener....with bad FT shooting. Lets see...

Edit: can we look at other player who DIDN'T play for the Lakers? Because our GM may have made some "good deals" in getting former Laker players doesnt mean that lightning will strike twice in the same place.

Hey, if he can be a decent 11th man, I'll take him. I don't think him not having any 1 particular skill would prevent him from making the roster. It's not like there are trees you can shake with unsigned NBA future stars ready to fall off.

He played 372 minutes with the Lakers last year. Wasn't bad. Was an extremely good offensive rebounder & shot 60% on 2-pt. attempts -- probably mostly around the basket. Fouls a lot. A body.

We have 14 guys with guaranteed contracts, having guaranteed McRae a few days ago. Robinson is partially guaranteed.

We got an extra spot, is that right? I.e. it would be possible for us to give Williams a guaranteed contract for the rest of the season?

The kids what 6-9 close to 6-10. The way he plays and the way he rebounds and defends you can play him at small ball center. Didn't he play for the Lakers at some point and get let go. So if we pick him up he's a sure thing to play well for us .

I think both. I don't think we need to cut any one yet due to some league exceptions we were granted do to injuries .

We have a good track record if taking in wayward Lakers bigs.

Do you realize that if they keep giving us these exceptions, we could have the whole G League playing for us!

Somehow we get more people hurt. We are basically flooring the go gos every night and we start winning games. Sweep the bucks in the ecf and take down the Lakers in a game 7 double OT to win the chip and in 2029 go go wizards staring dwane the rock Johnson's as Scott Brooks breaks box office records and wins him his first Oscar !
