Hi guys.
I've seen some highlights of this Jordan McRae with Detroit and Washington. He looked to be a fine player, but don't know why he hasn't been around in the league consistently (Had a bunch of stints in G-League and overseas earlier on).
Any positives or negatives to his game? To me, he seems to play like Jamal Crawford/Jame Harden (Very poor man's James Harden). Surprised he didn't stick with Washington when he was there.

Re: Jordan McRae
McRae has been a pretty solid backup SG for us for 2 years now. He can create his own shot with decent efficiency and has crazy long arms which help him to be a respectable on ball defender. He's a reliable ball-handler but not really much of a playmaker. His passing instincts are sub-par for a guard. He is best used as an instant offense guy off the second unit, like a Jordan Clarkson.
He had a really awesome stretch of play from late November to mid January which probably inflated his stats a bit. He shot 47% from 3-point range for a 16-game stretch which wasn't sustainable. He tailed off at the end of the season, possibly because he was dinged up with injuries.
He was ultimately traded not because we didn't like him, but because he's a 29-year-old free agent while we're a rebuilding team. I think he definitely belongs in the league. He is a legit rotation player (on a bad team, at least). The real question is, do you use a roster spot for a competent 8th man like him, or do you try and groom a younger player with more long term upside?

That's an outstanding summary of McRae -- everything you need to know, really.
nate's last point -- the question McRae presents to any team -- is on the money as well. Maybe the only thing to add is that he seemed to be very well liked in the locker room. That might be a plus for him in answering that question.
