His previous season was better but some good highlights, nonetheless.

The Gilbert, Tuff Juice, Tawn trio would make for a competitive core in our current era. The Gilbert era Wizards initiated the small ball revolution we have seen so successful nowadays and were the first to really take advantage of the no-hand-check eras emphasis on outside-in play. We just never got the small ball midrange-to-outside center we needed to make it truly sing.

One of Gil’s most underrated aspects was his strength. There’s a reason he was able to create so much space with bodying up on the perimeter and stepping back, to his acrobatic drives to the hoop - he was just plain stronger than most point guards.

Loved that mix and I especially loved seeing DC so hyped for basketball. The MCI Center (or was it the Verizon Center at that point) was electric because of that dude.
