President Trump told two senior Russian officials in a 2017 Oval Office meeting that he was unconcerned about Moscow’s interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election because the United States did the same in other countries

All the money wasted on the wall and all the money that will be needed to fix the damages caused by the monumental idiocy of recklessly building it should be taken directly from the Republican Party.

i'm sure some very smart fedsoc derp assured them that it would be better to just send ballots to military and seniors in 2024, win the election, and deal with the lawsuits after the fact bc even if they lose, the available remedies won't allow for the overturning of the election anyway.

The bottom line is Liz Cheney can't be a Republican leader, because she doesn't fit their principles.

I can't help but think Garland's DoJ is not going to fight this ruling.
I wonder what the Statute of limitations is on obstruction of justice.
Collusion may be a hoax in the sense that they weren't guilty of it but only
in the (narrow technical) sense that it's not an actual crime. But conspiracy and lying to investigators
is. Manafort and Stone weren't convicted for nothing.
A federal judge has ordered the release of a key Justice Department memo supporting former Attorney William Barr’s conclusion that former President Donald Trump should not be prosecuted for obstruction of justice over episodes investigated by special counsel Robert Mueller.
U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson issued that ruling in a withering opinion that accused Barr of being “disingenuous” when describing Mueller’s findings and found that the Justice Department was not candid with the court about the purpose and role of the 2019 memo prepared by Justice’s Office of Legal Counsel.
“Not only was the Attorney General being disingenuous then, but DOJ has been disingenuous to this Court with respect to the existence of a decision-making process that should be shielded by the deliberative process privilege," she wrote. "The agency’s redactions and incomplete explanations obfuscate the true purpose of the memorandum, and the excised portions belie the notion that it fell to the Attorney General to make a prosecution decision or that any such decision was on the table at any time.”

Five years in Federal court.
There is no statue of limitations on Treason though.
Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.
To render assistance or counsel. Any act that deliberately strengthens or tends to strengthen enemies of the United States, or that weakens or tends to weaken the power of the United States to resist and attack such enemies is characterized as aid and comfort.
Considering cyber attacks on the US by Russia, they have absolutely proven themselves our enemy. And no doubt the Trump cohort gave them 'aid and comfort' in various ways. Within the United States and elsewhere. If conversations with Putin were to come out, and after Trump's taxes come to light, I have no doubt we would see indictable offenses in this vein.

He is nearly every bit as big a piece of in-bred puss-infested garbage as Trump is - just packaged in a different grotesque snively way.

Does McConnell honestly believe that 1861-1865 would be an important historical point of reference without the event that occurred in 1619?

To be part of the R club...
Acknowledge that Trump doesn't lie
Acknowledge that the election was stolen
Acknowledge that wearing masks inside causes cancer
Acknowledge that Trump handled Covid beautifully
Acknowledge that there will be no burgers on Fourth of July, no steaks on the barbecue because of the Ds
Acknowledge that the Rs are still fiscal conservatives

I’m not a historian but there isn’t any proposed legislation that
was awful and that the filibuster saved us from. That I’m aware
of. The filibuster is more generally been used to stop or delay
important advances.

Re: Political Roundtable Part XXIX
“I would just say to my Republican colleagues: Can we move forward without President Trump? The answer is no,” Senator Lindsey Graham said in an interview on Fox News this week. “I’ve determined we can’t grow without him.”
And this - as much as anything else - is why there' never in the foreseeable future a reason for Dems to compromise with Reps in Congress. There's no point to it. because Republican "leaders" have zero character and are fine shooting for the lowest common denominator as long as they think that gives them the best chance of personal success. All you have to do is look at what Graham said about Trump during the 2016 primaries. And his words were much harsher than mine. He's the one who told everyone to use his words against him, and that will be how the world ultimately judges him - the most 2-faced politician we've ever seen.

Re: Political Roundtable Part XXIX
The optimist in me believes that this infatuation with such a truly horrible
and tragically damaged person as leader is doomed to end badly.
The concern remains about how much damage to all of us this will result
in. And as hard as many of us try to convince these followers that this
is not going to end well, the saying there are none so blind as those
who will not see comes to mind.
