I was for trading Chase Young for a bunch of high picks. It's good to be wrong. He makes everybody on the defense look better - which makes the offense look better.

Feels good to win a season opener, especially against the Iggles. The D-Line was dominant!

I really liked his second effort there. He lunged to get to Wentz’s feet after the qb initially escaped. Wentz has killed the WTFs in years past by slipping out of those near sacks.

Next weekend is Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins - a very different kind of challenge from Wentz to 2 great TE's and an occasional DeSean Jackson and whoever filled in for Alshon Jeffery. It's going to take more than the Skins front 4 to contain Murray. The LBers have to help. If the Skins contain Murray and Hopkins, their defense is for real.

Everyone else in the NFC East is winless, Gints lose tonight vs Pittsburg.

Vander Esch of the cowboys broke his collarbone. Every time I've watched him play, he seemed like the Cowboys best defender.

I get the feeling Chase could succeed in anything he chose. When he's not on the football field, he sounds like a wise older guy who'd be comfortable running a fortune 500 company. Not your typical athlete. And absurdly talented on the football field. Probably up to 6'6 270, can play the power game, can play the speed game, can play the techniques game, didn't even need an exhibition game to put his mark on the team. No doubt, he'll go through some rookie mistakes, but Chase is going to be an all-timer if he stays healthy. Even his name sounds like it came from a John Grisham novel.

Pass. He'd cost at least a 1st round pick, and he might be worth it, but... we could get him for nothing in free agency next offseason. We're in a great position because we'll have a ton of cap space even when the cap going down. And because the cap's going down, most other teams won't be able to bid with us - they'll have a tough enough time just getting under the cap.

And besides that, don't change the plans just because of one good game. It's not like - WR is the only problem on the team and we're going to the SB this year if we fix it. We need all our picks - particularly our 1st 3 picks. If anything, we should try to get more.

We have a competitive advantage this offseason because of our great cap situation. Take advantage of it - instead of wasting it!

Nah, Allen Robinson wouldn't cost us a 1st.

Truthfully, I wouldn't offer anymore than a third....and that's because we have two of them in the upcoming draft.

And while you're right we're not a player away, receiver is arguably the biggest hole on this team other than O-line.

I think he'd cost more than a 1st, considering Diggs was traded for a 1st, 4th, 5th, and 6th, and the Cowboys gave up a 1st for Amari Cooper when he was having a bad year for Oakland. Robinson's regarded as at least as good as both of them - probably better, and he's regarded as a great team guy with all the intangibles. The DeAndre Hopkins trade is already acknowledged as one of the worst in modern times, so that shouldn't be used as a comp. I mean, Crazy Beckham was traded for a 1st, 3rd, and Jabril Peppers.

Not to mention, Chicago is a team with playoff aspirations this season. They need him, so there's zero chance they trade him for a 3rd almost no chance they settle for a 2nd unless/until they get in a losing streak and get a few key injuries.

On the cap, it is interesting. It is expected to go down or stay flat at best given lost revenue. This likely means you'll see a lot of one year deals as many teams won't have the ability to overspend to give out big signing bonuses spread over multiple years. This would work really well for this team.

For the team itself, keep in mind that lot of these young guys on rookie deals are going to need extensions so you'll have to save long term cap for that. Off the top of my head, meaningful players who are 0-2 years away from FA: McLaurin, Scherff, Roullier, Allen, Ioannidis, Payne, Kerrigan, Anderson, Settle & Moreau.

You probably let Roullier and Anderson go in FA. Settle hits RFA after this season - you probably try to give him an extension at reasonable money. It may also be worth giving Moreau a reasonable extension (he's played well since moving outside). You then have a hard decision to make on Scherff, between Allen and Ioannidis & on Kerrigan

The NFL cap has one bizarre feature to it that's really going to benefit the Skins next year. The unused cap from 2020 is added to their 2021 cap - so each NFL team has the regular cap plus the carryover from the prior year. And the Skins will have one of the 2 or 3 highest team carryovers to 2021. Did I call them the Skins? Meh, I'll probably keep doing that. And while Alex Smith is still on the books next year, he comes off in 2022, so that helps cover future years increases for the young guys. Skins are in great shape for the cap at least for the next 2 years. Oh, and Kerrigan comes off the books after this season assuming he doesn't re-sign.

But, hold on -- if the team isn't good, call it the Treadskins. Yet, as much money as it makes, perhaps it should be the Breadskins? Yet, if the owner were named Fred or Ed -- Fredskins/Edskins.

Maybe Leonsis should buy them: the Tedskins. Yes, this is getting kind of heavy (Leadskins?). Perhaps they'll be injury-prone (Medskins). Or never play from behind (Aheadskins). Will they have run away (Fledskins)? Be respected on the street (Credskins)? Exhibit bright colors (OLEDskins)?

What if they're sleepy (Bedskins)?

Ease up, they're not only undefeated, they have sole ownership of 1st place in the NFC East. Give us a few more days to feel good about the team before Mr. Murray carves us up for dinner. Hail to the WFT's!
