I feel like Houston got the better of this deal even without the pick added. I think Wall would have been an ideal fit with the squad and had everything to prove, he was the right player for the squad we were building. Westbrook is a rich man's IT. Hero ball all the time. Ball stopper. Hardheaded, and stunting the growth of our young cats. Not a leader for youth but a Me Me Me player. And on the decline. At least with Wall there is a chance of undiscovered upside.

What would Ted's blog say about this move?

I hated this trade when I heard about it. I still hate that we are giving up a R1 pick. We are a bad team trying to rebuild. Giving up a R1 pick ain't the way to do it.

OTOH, on their careers, Westbrook is a much, much better player than John Wall -- it isn't close.

He's 2 years older than John, of course. OTOH, he isn't coming off a major injury the way John is. Call that a wash...?

2 years ago, at the age John is now, Westbrook had a year better than any John Wall has ever had. Way better. He dropped off last year -- almost entirely b/c his defensive rebounding & assist numbers were significantly down. I expect his assists to pop back up to career average.

Several posters here have speculated about "flipping him" to the Knicks or Clippers. Depending on what we took back, obviously, that could turn out pretty well.

In the end, I guess, the only thing I feel sure of is that the Washington Wizards remain a pathetic franchise.
Breaking News: In a shocking development, Wizards owner Ted Leonsis has sold the NBA franchise to a consortium of participants in a discussion board devoted to the team on realgm.com. Details to follow....

Regardless of what happens, I'm sad Wall's gone. I also really dislike how Westbrook plays.

I was just thinking. He better not wear Agent Zero. That number is retired in my heart.

If you are female, clean, and wear your mask then perhaps!

What he’s telling you PIF, I think, is there’s a chance. That’s practically championship for a Wizards fan.

You're right! That cements it, he has to be flipped immediately!!!

We can recoup the draft capital and more by trading Russ. Contenders will want him anytime.

No, Russ can’t shoot but neither could John. Neither one plays D anymore. I’d rate both as equal PITAs.

Russ is a better player and worth more in open market. Plus Brad wanted this and that’s the focus, keep him happy.

Just a hard sell for me...so Beal wanted him gone for an even MORE selfish player? Just sounds like bull

Westbrook badly wanted Beal in OKC in 2017-2018. He also loves Brooks.

I know most of you guys are disappointed but I think it was a good trade for the Wizards. Cheapest way to improve and make Beal happy.

He's also a great locker room guy so I think the young players will learn a lot with him (work ethic etc.)

Hope it will work for Brodie and the Wizards :)

It'll be that much harder to upgrade the coach as well if Westbrook is tied to Brooks.

Well I think it's possible westbrook's numbers dipped more due to harden than they did due to him being in open decline, maybe .

We traded a part time injured player for a full time less injured player
