Wall misses a potential game winner. Rockets lose 20 in a row. https://streamable.com/jqh8zi

That one comment pretty much got Marcin Gortat traded or no longer part of the Wizards. He spoke after witnessing Everybody Eats. Wall didn't like the not at all subtle shade.

Harden gave Russ the news he wanted out and Russ acted accordingly. Harden did what KD didn’t do when KD left OKC for GSW.

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2934230-the-2-month-trade-request-how-james-harden-forced-his-way-out-of-houston

“In November, the thought of joining Brooklyn grew more intriguing for Harden. He started training with Kevin Durant at the Mamba Academy, developing a relationship with the team.By Nov. 11, Harden indicated to Russell Westbrook he wanted to be traded to Brooklyn. As a result, Westbrook asked out. Not because of Harden's partying tendencies or the Rockets' culture issues, but simply because he knew Harden wanted out, according to multiple sources close to the Rockets. Harden spent significant time in L.A. with Durant in mid-November and became fully committed to the idea of playing with the Nets. The two met to reaffirm their desire to play with one another and started laying the foundation for a trade, sources say.By Nov. 17, news of the potential deal had spread across the league. Harden and Durant thought it would be finalized on Nov. 22, when trades could officially be announced. But Rockets management changed its tune. Harden, Durant and the Nets had underestimated the Rockets'capacity to posture for a better deal."Houston was being difficult," a front-office executive familiar with the Rockets' negotiating tactics at the time told Bleacher Report.”

Wall has now dipped below 50% TS despite taking a career high amount of shot attempts at over 20 a game. Career lows in assists, rebounds, steals, and defensive&offensive rating. His win share/VORP/BMP figures are all dipping into the negative. Now he’s out for an extended period of time once again. The wizards were absolutely right, he’s done.

Bottom line, if the wizards didn’t make the trade, Bradley Beal would’ve requested a trade by now. There is atleast hope of building a playoff contending team OR trading out of Westbrook’s contract without attaching major assets. Wall would’ve hindered the development of every single young player on the wizards roster.

I don't see how giving up a draft pick for a 32 year old statpadder is a win for the Wizards. But hey, I guess whatever can be perceived as a win for Wizards fans is good enough for certain members of the fanbase.

Some of these game logs are brutal. 4-16 shooting 5 turnovers and -33 overall. 8-30 shooting, 6-25 shooting 7 turnovers.

Can you imagine that next to Beal?

I mean, the rockets got the valuable asset in the trade: the 1st round pick, but there’s so much more to it:

1. Keeping Beal happy
2. Being able to move Westbrook’s contract in future
3. Leadership
4. Development of young players

There’s absolutely no way anyone can call that a bad trade by the wizards, especially when that 1st ends up being a mid level 2024 1st or a couple 2nd round picks.

See Nat's post above.
"a draft pick" and "statpadder" seems to just be loaded language with no nuance. What draft pick are we giving up? What stats does Russ "Pad" and why are they bad?

Nat hit the nail. Beal is clearly happier with Russ than John. Russ, like Beal, is a family man that appears to have an aurora/swagger that young guys gravitate towards. He grinds everyday and that means something to a bunch of 19-24 y/o guys.
I always felt the game came too easy to John and players had a hard time relating to him as he was a bit demanding on his teammates while not always looking in the mirror.

It’s entirely possible for both teams to lose the trade.

We lost less than Houston lost. That counts as winning (for the Wizards - we grade on a sliding scale).
Can't say I do.

Wall apparently not being truly healthy at this point spells disaster. Such a shame.

And the real bad Minnesota game was even worse than the awful boxscore for him. I watched the 2nd half of that game; it was a shame - he had put up good 1st half stats and Houston was doing well. But late in the 3rd quarter and in the 4th, he took bad jumper after bad jumper instead of looking to pass - he was like Westbrook at his worst except without the explosiveness. Bad Wall is worse than bad Westbrook, because Westbrook still hustles his arse off when he's playing foolishly, and his uber athleticism and fitness can bail him out to a degree. And now with Wall's knee being an issue, it's especially obvious who the better player is.

I don't think John is done. But him becoming even more of a shot jacker was not what I envisioned. Early on in the season he was picking his spots, getting to the rim, and setting up his guys.

And the Rockets all of a sudden having just a G-League roster didn't help.

I hope it's only that, but Houston probably already had a bottom seed locked up.

It is amazing how Wall's career was derailed by injuries the same way Arenas' career was, especially given the start to Wall's career with Arenas still in DC. Arenas was traded for Rashard Lewis who was then dumped for Okafor and Ariza, as I recall.
Can't say I do.
