Anybody ever hear of something called Hoops Chemistry? Yeah, me neither. It’s on Instagram.

Anyway, there’s a slide on there right now saying the Wizards are ISO another star to contend and that a name in conversations is Derozan.

I dont think a 3.6 mil bi-annual exception gets him. Neither will a vet minimum. I believe thats all we have to give. Correct if wrong.

If we are lookng to get a third "star", Derozan is about the peak talent level we could afford to trade for without emptying our future draft coffers. That said, DD seems like a bad fit. You can't have a PG and a SF who can't hit 3s and expect to contend.

This isnt complicated. Given the usage, skill-set, and salary's of our backcourt... I think Bonga, Brown, Rui, Bertans, and Deni are about as perfect a compliment you're going to get.

If anything this team should focus its efforts are looking for trades for an above average big who is a defensive paint presence. A poor mans Gobert with a better shot would be great. Who that is? Not sure.

But even that is tough because we really can't afford two medium-sized contracts at center. If we added, say, Derrick Favors (who kinda meets your criteria), it would cost a full MLE deal. We can't afford to pay both Bryant and Favors with that expensive backcourt

Ultimately, you are talking about trading Bryant for an ideal defensive-minded center who hopefully costs about the same as Bryant. That's not an easy get. Maybe Jarrett Allen? But it's a gamble that his next contract won't be much more expensive given the amount of money chasing free agents next summer.

Completely agree. I was looking around this morning and couldn't find a player like that, that would be available to us at this point. We're going to have to sit tight and see how the landscape changes as the season progresses both in terms of our team and others.

The Spurs are playing DeRozan at the 4 more- but yeah the point still stands.

DeRozan of course somehow did manage to be competent shooter against the Wizards in the 2018 playoffs by shooting 38.5% from 3 and then of course followed that up by shooting 0% against the Cavs.

The phrase "There aren't enough basketballs to go around" comes to mind when thinking about adding DeRozan to the Wiz. Also the phrase - "He's a complete nonfactor from 3" comes to mind. Pass - he's a bad fit.

Maybe he's a better defender than I thought.

the marginal increases in salary v marginal increases in play of DD over Rui aren't commensurate, and because of that, i'm out.

To this discussion I would just say: hell No!!! DeRozan is not what the Wiz need

The Wizards have enough offensive talent, it's the defensive, perimeter especially, that needs to be addressed.
