Mathews/Bonga/Wagner have to play more than this, and Bertans only getting 4 shots is a total joke

It takes a special coach to be outscored by 15 points so far in the 4th.

You can blame the game on Brooks, but the Clippers are just a really good team. The only young player that gets playing time is Mann. Everyone else is a veteran who accepts their role. The Wizards have a weakness with Big Men that can't switch and they attack it every time. The game may have been close at certain points, but there is a big gap between the Wizards and the Clippers. Watching this 2nd half, I like the Clippers more than the Lakers. If this Clipper team shows up, I can see them beating everyone but the Nets.

Yup.

Time to call it. He's dead, Jim.

sit Beal. I know he probably wants to keep up his PPG average, but for health, I think he should sit.

Or a really tired team that isn't all that good in the first place.

Let's keep it real people. We were big time underdogs in this one. This was the expected outcome.

Clippers are a good defensive team. They actively denied Bertans the ball and made his catches tough. Bertans doesn't have the ability to put the ball on the floor so he ends up not getting shot attempts. This is what will happen in the playoffs. The benefit of Bertans is that his defender always needs to be right up on him so he creates spacing for other players.

It's fine. We split. Wiz can't keep getting behind every game. It caught up with them and we don't matchup with their length. That and playing an OT game the night before. This was to be expected. The Denver game should be interesting.

Obviously, but having a moron for a coach doesn’t help. He just played Beal 40 freaking minutes.

Yeah, Bertans is helping on offense even when he doesn't score.

Set more screens for him. Westbrook has to look for him more when he's in the game, especially when he's driving. I don't care if Scottie Pippen and Gary Payton are on him, you have to find more shots for DB or he's a decoy. That's on him for trying to get open, Brooks and whoever is running the point.

Let's not act like that cost us the game. They pulled away early in the 4th before Beal crossed the 40 minute mark.

The game was lost in the 1st half.

Yeah some of these takes are just silly. The clippers did absolutely nothing to cause Westbrook to iso 6 consecutive possessions. We don’t even run plays 95% of the time.

I think Fred Katz tweeted that the Wizards were being outrebounded 32-12 at one point.

Call it whatever you want. It was the 2nd night of a back to back after an overtime game on a west coast road trip. You extend the bench. We shortened it. Avdija played 10 minutes, Bonga played 3, Mathews played less than 20, Wagner played less than 25, Brown Jr didn’t play.

This isn’t a controversial take. You don’t shorten your bench and play Westbrook&Beal 40 minutes. It’s just stupidity. This is a night where you play 12 guys and no one plays 30 minutes. Live with whatever result.

You are using hindsight. Sticking with Beal and Westbrook in the 3rd quarter cut a 17 point lead to 5. It looked like a great idea at that moment... until it didn't.

If Brooks went to his bench after the starters cut it to 5, and then bench let the deficit increase back up to 15, you'd be whining that Brooks should have stuck with the starters because they were playing well!

Pretty much this. Long scoring droughts a couple times in the game hurt us. I give no bearing to win streaks albeit it would have been nice to continue. We need to be consistently above average against the good teams and do better than that against bad teams.

Overall, it was still an encouraging performance again. Cutting it to 5 at the end of the 3rd was impressive. Wagner was terrific.
