Beal will win, but I gave it to Mathews for scrappy hustling play at both ends.

I’m going with Mathews. His effort was outstanding. 9 rebounds and 18 points on only 6 shot attempts. Also played great defense.
Beal&Bertans were completely unstoppable in the 3rd quarter. They are also deserving.

I gave it to Beal - 17 points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds and a steal in 8 minutes and 30 seconds in the 3rd quarter.

Re: Player of the Game #13 (T-Wolves @ Bullets)
Matthews was great, but Beal was the catalyst in the third along with Bertans.
Westbrook gets some love because he kept the game close early when we were waffling.
But we got to stop ignoring Beal. No weight adjustment to your average play, Beal was pretty much flawless in the second half.

I should have put an option for Josh Okogie.

Nobody has ignored the runaway winner of the POTG totals. Still no weight adjustment for "the second half". He was out of it in the first half and had the old prior year Beal body language and was bitching out the rookie for one bad pass while not doing much himself. Mathews was scrapping at both ends, he however doesn't get the luxury of unlimited touches. Only Russ and BB3 get to play through a bad half, everyone else gets the hook. Mathews made the most of the times the ball came to him, and was playing hard off the ball even when the ball was swinging the other way. Mathews was pretty much flawless all game, difference is he is a pass-dependent player.
I will say this though, Beal makes halftime adjustments like a cyborg. However they are effectively guarding him in the first half, he attacks in the 2nd half with whatever has been working.

If Mathews didn’t play as hard as he did, the game very easily could’ve gotten away from us.

I'm going with Beal. Dude just took over the game in the 3rd and turned a small deficit into a big lead. Mathews was great late in the game (as was Bertans), making sure we maintained the lead, but we probably would still have won without him. Beal just would have had to play more minutes.
I love Mathews, but Beal has to get POTG.

Beal was incredible in the 3rd but I’ll give to Matthews, he deserves a long-term contract with the Wiz!!

To me the thing that’s allowed BB3 to make the quantum leap is that
he now has effective and instantaneously deployed counter measures
to just about anything that gets thrown at him, if not in the moment
then certainly in the game. His consistency has been awesome. Any
time you think he’s off to a bad start and won’t get at least 25, in
a brief span, just like tonight, he goes off for 15-20 pts. And tonight
that allowed Bertrans and Mathews to also relax, flow and shoot
lights out.

Beal was flat out great in the 3rd.
But Matthews got 18 points on 6 shots. Wow.
He gets my vote.

Mathews got the most out of his ability, but Beal was the player of the game and basically won it in the 3rd quarter.

I vote for Matthews. Only because I know Wizard's execs will view my post and thus give him a long-term contract. Thank me later

Re: Player of the Game #13 (T-Wolves @ Bullets)
Beal with Mathews and Bertans tied for a close second.
BB after struggling early went nuclear in the third quarter...Mathews shot great and worked hard on both ends of the court...Bertans hit some absolutely clutch threes.

I think Gooden wants to be Mathews' agent! It was funny how much he was talking about Mathews contract and the money he can make.

Remember when he was glued to the bench while mr 33% Jerome Robinson was starting games?
If they had actually played him the minutes that he deserved from the start of the season to now, we would be talking about a Thomas Bryant type payday. Mathews is JJ Reddick with good defense and the ability to draw fouls.

Re: Player of the Game #13 (T-Wolves @ Bullets)
I like that Beal defers to teammates and doesnt push to hard in the 1st half. It allows him to maintain his energy to take over when it counts.
The 3rd qtr was when the MJ Bulls would make their move to put the game away. Beal looked like an MVP candidate in the 2nd half. I had no idea that Beal could be as good as he is this year. I'm beginning to believe that Beal could be the best player on a championship team. He just needs an athletic defensive and rebounding big.

Beal cooked the Timberwolves in the third, not sure how anybody could be more deserving.
