Re: GT #36: 76ers @ Bullets 7 PM (NBCSW/1500 AM)
The Wizards looked respectable in the 2nd quarter. It happens every time. We get destroyed in the 1st quarter and that outplay our opponent thereafter. The only question is whether or not we can make up the deficit.
Ever since the Covid break, starting with the Brooklyn game on January 31st, the Wizards are the worst 1st quarter team in the league, losing 1st quarters by an average of 6.2 points. We win every other quarter on average. We are +0.2 in the 2nd quarter, +1.0 in the 3rd quarter and +0.8 in the 4th. If we could just skip the 1st quarter, we would be the 11th best team in the league since January 31st.

Hachimura just needs to practice a quick-release catch and shoot in the offseason. Just shoot 1000 shots a day. He gets that look about 4 times a game and always pump fakes into a worse shot. JUST SHOOT THE FRIGGIN BALL! It's an open catch-and-shoot 3 - basically the second best shot in basketball. TAKE IT!

I wonder why Rui can go through long stretches of absolutely not doing **** on the court, yet he continues to get starts and consistent minutes, while TBJ gets little to no minutes. Makes no sense.

I think that in many ways, Rui is still a rookie. Has played less than 82 full games due to injury and illness over 1.5 seasons. He probably didn't get a strong enough preseason workload on his weaknesses. Giving him the benefit of a doubt for this season.

LOL, they're challenging a shooting foul called for Westbrook. That's stupid. Westbrook was going to miss the free throws anyhow. It's a waste of a challenge.

He was at that stupid big guard camp this offseason, wasting time playing pickup with a bunch of guards. I said at the time that he this was a waste of his time, and he should be working with bigmen coach at a bigmen camp.
The Rui you see on the court now is a direct reflection of the lack of productive offseason preparation. I'm not making any excuses for that guy. He's 23...he doesn't have the excuse of being too young. At least Deni and TBJ do.

I don't know if I've ever seen a Hall of Fame-caliber guard like Westbrook go through such a free throw slump this late in his career. Not talking a big that can't shoot mid-range shots. It's bizarre.

Hopefully just hyperextended. Banged hips with Matthews.

Yeah a hyperextended knee might just mean 2-4 weeks.
I really hope it's not serious. I absolutely love what Embiid has done this season. It's honestly been one of the greatest individual seasons of all time, by anyone. He is just killing everyone, night after night.

Dwight Howard can do the same things on the boards and defensively that Embiid does. Obviously, he can't come close to duplicating his offense. They could survive him being out a few weeks, but not for the year.

Westbrick is back from the line to everything else. Beal asleep this quarter. Do wonder if he's hurting considering he was questionable.

Finally, a Troy Brown sighting. Had no other option with DBno3 hurt.

The Sixers did this to the Bulls last night without Simmons and Embiid. Of course, they have depth, athleticism, shooters, an athletic backup center and a legit coach.

I get it. Watching the conference tournaments is a lot more interesting than this garbage.

So you are down 26 with a game tomorrow night and Westbrook is still in. Unless he's not playing tomorrow.

They are actually better without Embiid and Simmons, at least against us. Pathetic.

I am glad I invested 0 minutes even contemplating the fate of the Wizards this game.
Unless they win another 4 or 5 games in a row I'm OFFICIALLY off whatever hope/bandwagon there was.
This year's a bust. They need to keep losing and they need to trade Beal. Throw in Hachimura as far as I'm concerned. Dude is meh.
