The Knicks had just 4 baskets in the paint the entire 4th quarter. And at least one of them was on a fast break.

The Wizards didn't lose this on defense. They lost by only scoring 102 points.

Were we watching the same game? We just gave up 39 points in the 4th quarter. Even if they weren't scoring in the paint, the Wizards have to collapse the defense because Len/Lopez can't drop on the PnR. Every single Knicks ball-handler just waltzed into the paint. Offense could have been better, but our defense completely fell apart in the 4th quarter.

I pin this loss on Brooks, and a little bit on Westbrook.

Brooks for having no imagination on offense. No pindown screens. No ball movement. Just give the ball to Beal and pray. Westbrook killed us with 8 turnovers and 3/15 shooting, with two of his makes in transition.

Would someone please pass the ball to Mathews? He only needs a sliver of daylight to get his shot off.

Once again, 17 turnovers, Westbrick goes 3-of-15 and 0-5 from 3pt with 8 turnovers.Beal 8 of 23 but missed several shots down the stretch. We also got outrebounded 55-46 and allowed 18 freakin' offensive boards including 7 from Taj Gibson.

He'll be fired at the end of the season. At this point, what is Robert Pack going to do? I'd rather see them get in the top 5 then go for the 10th slot and the play-in game.

It’s the principle of it. Brooks is not coaching Westbrook just like he didn’t coach wall. Westbrook is careless with the ball and when do you sit him down and say something about ball security. I know he is a mvp and 32... but if you can’t coach Westbrook then let pack do it - we can lose without Brooks... give pack the head start

Every ballhandler waltzed into the paint where Len and Lopez thwarted them. It was the guards who didn't do their job. In particular, they didn't box out the big man when Lopez/Len had to leave them to stop the penetrating ball-handler.

I thought the bigs did about as good as one can expect with the constant penetration.

Is Westbrook coachable? Scott Brooks is not the only coach he's played for.

I hear you. But I don't think an interim coach will have the authority to coach Westbrook and Beal either. We're stuck with this for the rest of the season.

I'll agree to a point. Westbrook had 18 rebounds. Not sure what else he can do on the boards. Matthews, though a good night, had one rebound, Beal had four and Neto had four. Len and Lopez had a combined 7.

Hachimura was +10 in 41 minutes. That means the Wizards were outscored by 14 points during the 7 minutes he sat.

At this point, wins and losses don't matter. I want to see Gafford and hopefully Hutchison. Need a more confident Deni and to see Rui continue to get better. The rest is just about getting in position to pick higher in the draft.

Yes, run a play or two for Matthews. Knicks set a nice double screen for Burks when they realized he the only player who was making shots.

Rui made at shot with 5:28 left in the 4th. Here are the following Wizards offensive possessions.
  • 4:48 RJ Barrett steals the ball from Bradley Beal
  • 4:28 Russell Westbrook misses a 26-foot three-pointer from the top of the arc
  • 3:43 Russell Westbrook misses a 25-foot three-pointer from the left wing
  • 3:14 Julius Randle steals the ball from Russell Westbrook
  • 2:32 Shooting foul on Taj Gibson. Bradley Beal to shoot 2 free throws
  • 1:58 Offensive foul on Bradley Beal
  • 1:19 Bradley Beal misses a layup
  • 1:18 Bradley Beal offensive rebound
  • 1:17 Layup by Bradley Beal
  • 52.4 Bradley Beal misses a 10-foot driving floating jump shot in the lane
  • 26.8 Personal foul on RJ Barrett. Russell Westbrook to shoot 2 free throws
  • 13.5 Bradley Beal makes a 25-foot three-pointer from the right wing assisted by Russell Westbrook
  • 05.9 Garrison Mathews makes a 23-foot three-pointer from the left corner assisted by Bradley Beal
So about 5 minutes of game time, the possession ended with Beal or Westbrook.

Brad was every bit as responsible as Russ for us losing.

Rui had a good outing. Mathews had an even better one. Be nice if he got more than 6 shots in 35 minutes!

We had 4 guys go 17-22; 4 of those makes were 3-pointers, so that's 38 points on 22 shots -- & that's not even counting Rui's 9-16 w/ 2 3-pointers.

Same old story -- we gave them 9 more FTAs than we had, & we gave them 13 more FGAs than we had. It's almost impossible to win when you do that.

Holy crap, Jason Smith might be a worse judge of basketball effectiveness than Drew Gooden. He just spoke for 3 minutes about how Russell Westbrook was phenomenal tonight and just keeps raising the bar for himself and his teammates.

I’m at a loss for words.

Avdija was terrible, but he did supply a Shaqtin the Fool highlight. In his defense, it's hard to play with Westbrook and Beal dominating the ball, but he doesn't much even when he gets the ball.
