Guys, just dont get hyped over Gafford. Give it first 5 minutes of him in game, and when you see him 3x fall when he tries to rebound. And 2x lost ball like a hot potato, you'll get the reality. He is tall but lacks core strength. Which is really bad on this level.

I prefer Mo and Brown, but that ship has sailed. This is a lateral at best trade IMO. Hopefully it's the last move Sheppard makes as GM of this team.

2.1 turnovers per 36 for a finisher isn't great.

I don’t think it’s a certainty Brown is the best player in this trade. Gafford was being mocked in the lottery before he went back to Arkansas his sophomore year. He’s definitely still raw.

At the very least the energy at the center position will be off the charts when Bryant gets healthy. Something we haven’t been able to say recently.

Gafford ranks 15th among centers in DRPM - a list that mostly passes the smell test except for Bryant at #10 and Kornet at #13:

Well all I got is he's athletic and a rim runner so in theory it fills a need lol. Seems like Brown & Wagner were a steep price to pay for two guys that were out of the rotation but it shows how much value Brown had - None.

Feels like making a move for the appearance of shaking things up. Were still starting a back up C - and one with no skill but he's more mobile than the stiffs we've been running out there.

Raptor also says he’s a good defender.

The way I see it, the rim-runner/shot blocker archetype requires both talent and experience. The universe of long 6-11 athletes is pretty small, so there isn't much of a talent pool to begin with. With very few exceptions, the guys that fit the mold don't also happen to be basketball savants. It takes time to develop them. They're typically awful in their first couple of years, but in year 3 or 4, they start to figure it out if they've had enough reps. That's when you see guys like Deandre Aayton, Mitchell Robinson and Robert Williams go from "useless" to "interesting". The smart ones ultimately figure things out and become excellent rim protectors - guys like Richaun Holmes and Myles Turner.

I'm hoping Gafford has worked through the "useless" phase and will hopefully hit the "interesting" phase in the next 2 years. The good news is that we didn't have to be the ones sacrificing wins to develop him through most of those "useless" minutes.

Possibly more moving parts in this trade. Looks like a 3 team deal with Boston

Maybe we can give away Bertans for a Boston pick?

The Raptors aren't trading Lowry.

All the more reason to expect the Raptors to outpace us over the last 30 games. We have no chance of making the playoffs. Trade Lopez and Bertans!

Eh, don't get this one for Boston.

Wagner is a poor mans Theis.
