I don't think so. They are play-in games that get you to the playoffs. If you finish among the top 2 in the play in tournament, you are then in the playoffs and treated like any other playoff team. If you finish among the bottom 2 in the tournament, you are in the lottery like any other non-playoff team.

At least theoretically there will be playoff intensity and he'll get experience. Also look for fans and potential suitors to overreact either way depending on the outcome.

My god the play in did it's job I haven't been this interested in a while. If we can take out the hornets we get 8 . That's a point of pride. Then we have 2 games too make the post season. Honestly I'd rather play the nets. KD is not healthy, Kyrie is a bag of cats and James could choke in water if he was left alone. There is opportunity there.

No, it's better than that. There are two paths, depending on whether we beat Charlotte or not. Here they are:

1. If we beat Charlotte tomorrow, we are #8.

Then we play Boston. If we beat them, we are #7. We have made it through the Play-in Tournament. That's the best result, obviously. We've only had to play one Play-in game, & we've jumped a spot.

If we lose to Boston, we play a 2d Play-in game -- against whoever won the play-in game between #9 & # 10 (Charlotte & Indy).

If we win that second game, we are #8. We have made it through the Play-in Tournament. If we lose that 2d game, we are in the lottery.

2. But, what if we lose to Charlotte tomorrow? In that case, Charlotte is #8. We are either #9 or #10 (depending on whether Indy loses or wins their final game).

Charlotte has the game vs. Boston instead of us, & we are the ones who play the first play-in game against Indy. If we are #9 the game is at the phone booth. If they are #9, the game is on their court.

If we win that game, we play the loser of the game between Charlotte & Boston. If we win that game, we are #8. We have made it through the Play-in Tournament. If we lose that game, we are in the lottery.

This is a shortened season with only 72 games. We, as well as the Celtics, Hornets, and Pacers, have only 1 more game left to play. We are not catching the Celtics at #7 seed as we have 33 wins and they have 36 wins in these regular season games. We can get the #8 seed with a win when we play the Hornets in our game. If we get the #8 seed, then we get to play the current #7 seed, Boston, for the right to be seeded #7 in the playoffs. If we loose that game, then we get to play the winner of the #9 vs #10 for the right to be the #8 seed in the playoffs. Woof! Good excitement! Lets go!
