YOUR Washington Bullets are 15-12, 5-9 in their last 14.
The Jazz utterly destroyed the Bullets in the 2nd half on Saturday night, outscoring them by 26 points after the Bullets lead 51-50 at halftime!
On Monday, a new road trip begins with the Bullets visiting Coach Unseld's former squad, the Nuggets! Expect Wes to get a lot of love from his former colleagues and players on Monday night. The reigning league MVP Nikola Jokic didn't want Coach Unseld to leave him this past summer, which is always a good thing to be reminded of!
Speaking of The Joker, he has been putting up ridiculous numbers for Denver. The Nuggets have been snake bitten with injuries. Star guard Jamal Murray is out until the Spring with the torn ACL he suffered in April. Michael Porter Jr. is out for the season with another back surgery after signing a 5 year $170M rookie extension. PJ Dozier tore his ACL a couple weeks ago. Will Barton has been nicked up. Austin Rivers is in COVID protocol. I mean, it's been crazy!
They are coming off a BIG W over the Spurs.
Even with all of the injuries, the Nuggets should be favored. The Bullets have been pathetic. Bradley Beal is trash... yes, I said it. Dinwiddie sucks. And there's not much else you can do when your starting backcourt is terrible.

Jokic is so damn good it's not even funny. He's like Neo in The Matrix after he slowed everything down. He just casually destroys teams while posting preposterous numbers. I can't even believe how effortless it is.

Not too confident in Harrell being able to stop Jokic. Still, I predict Wiz take this one, 127-89.

Will be at this game! Super excited - it's incredible that Nuggets tickets are still in the $20-or-less range for most anybody besides the Lakers/Warriors. Last Zards game I went to here gave us this (the full version of which includes him high-fiving my friend), so I have high hopes:

Who is going to score for us? We would need a freak production from Bertans and other 3-pt shooters to win.

Can Beal go nuclear for like 50 like old times?

Man, that seems like so long ago. Beal scored 60 once last year! He scored 50 once. And he broke 40 six more times. And he only played 60 games.
And it's not just due to Westbrook drawing all the defensive attention. The year before, Beal scored 53 twice and broke 40 eight more times. And he only played in 57 games.
This year, in 24 games, he hasn't broken 40 once. His two highest scoring games are 36 and 34, and he hasn't exceeded 30 in any other.
I wonder if there is something intrinsic about Wes Jr.'s offensive system that is allowing teams to take Beal out of games with double teams and blitzing the high screen? What was it about Brooks' system that sprung Beal free to get buckets?

Beal looks significantly older over this stretch of games. I will say the positive is that Beal is putting a lot of effort on the defensive end moreso than I can remember but it may be effecting his offensive. But he does look winded a lot. Maybe there is a natural decline coming with Beal who may have to do a better job taking care of his body in the offseason.
We can't ignore that getting Covid may have had some effect on his game at least staying in shape during the offseason. It disallowed him the opportunity of playing with team USA where most players (other than Lillard) end up having career years after playing with the team. Or if fatigue is ultimately building up with Beal after a relatively short offseason and previously condensed season.
Coaching may have had an impact as well on the offensive side of things. The Wizards spend 80% of their training camp focused on defense. A lot of improvement has been made there but now the offense is not as consistent. Overall, can't argue with Wes Unseld as the results seem to be working even after the recent results
Perhaps Beal's game also thrives next to not only Westbrook but Rui as well.
It hasn't been a great year for Beal's trainer Drew Hanlen as his clients are having worse seasons. Guys like Tatum and Embiid are relatively worse.
Beal also has said on podcasts that he doesn't really value analytics in basketball. Perhaps that's why he's spending much of his game working on his midrange and his handle. As the new rules, it seems to reward less of those behaviors for perimeter oriented guards- an in the meantime Beal's 3 point shot has declined to the worst it has been at any time of his career. Russell Westbrook has actually made more 3s than Beal this season (36 vs 35) on fewer attempts.
Then again, Beal has developed the reputation of starting out slow. He only came on fire in his 2nd half of his college season at Florida. Same thing happened in Beal's rookie season and Beal also has had playoff runs then some of the season. So maybe there is hope that Beal can redeem himself later in the season.

I don't really buy many of these excuses except for the "starting slow" one in your last paragraph.
Beal is too young for a natural decline.
Beal looks in great shape to me, and I've seen no signs that he is fatigued out there. He misses in the 1st quarter as much as the 4th.
Rui is absolutely not a sufficiently respected offensive threat that he draws defensive attention from Beal. Rui has not been a good offensive player for the Wizards yet in his career. Teams are content to let him shoot long 2's and they're not worried about Rui making the extra pass. Indeed, Kuzma with his superior passing and his willingness to launch 3's without hesitation is likely helping Beal on offense more than Rui ever did.
Interesting observation about Drew Hanlen's clients.
Regarding analytics, I actually think Beal messed himself up in the past by pursuing analytics to a fault. His commitment to launching 8-9 three's a game has really destroyed his 3-point shooting. I actually like that he is getting away from launching so many 3-balls. As long as he is shooting 26%, he SHOULD be avoiding them.

Combo of a few things I think:
1. New way of officiating. He can’t get to the line and teams attack his drives physically because they aren’t afraid to foul.
2. Dinwiddie sucks donkey balls.
3. Wes’s offense is like EFJ’s and Wittless’. A ton of wasted energy at top of key taking precious seconds off the shot clock and providing nothing in the way of movement toward the rim.
4. Less pace.
5. More effort on the defensive end means less energy to tee it high and let it fly on O
5. And this one I feel less certain about — but, he may still be suffering some after effects of COVID

It'd be extremely embarrassing if the guys didn't show up for coach vs his old team tonight.

Doubt the players really care that WUJ was the top assistant at Denver.

I don't expect a win, but KCP will bounce back from his scoreless performance with a big game.

Deni just not ready to start. Three wide open threes. He has to take them. But you also have to make at least one.

Gafford just can't stay out of foul trouble. Let's go from 6-10 to 6-7 against a monster.

Do you think Wes Jr. has pulled Dinwiddie aside and instructed him: "under no circumstances should you EVER push it up for a fast break"?
