I would call this a successful trade season if we are able to trade everyone > 26 y.o FOR expirings and as many 2nd rnd picks as we can get. Since Beal is pretty much out, tank the rest of the way and hope to get a good draft pick. It will be a good draft.

Shepp probably shellshocked Rui, Deni, Corey have such little trade value.

I don't know how he could/would be shellshocked. We're not featuring them --- making them offensive options --- and we're getting hammered every night by 20-30 points. You know?
If they had value to outsiders, it feels like our recent slide has sucked all the air out of that.

It will be interesting to see what packages we actually offered when the deadline is over.

My bet is that Avdija and Kispert actually do have significant trade value.
As much as we bash Sheppard, he has actually been pretty resistant to trading the future for now. The fact that we didn't trade Avdija and Kispert isn't due to their lack of value, but rather, Sheppard has steadfastly refused to trade the future for an incremental short term game.
Unfortunately, Sheppard has also refused to go in the other direction and actively trade the present for the future. Right now, we have the perfect opportunity to do so. If Sheppard doesn't at least trade Harrell (and frankly, KCP too), then it's malpractice.

I'm a little confused about this take.
Exactly who is out there willing to pay Beal $42M this summer? Who has the cap room to do it?
Beal isn't going to walk. At worst, he's going to ask for a trade to a handful of preferred destinations, all of which lack $42M in raw cap room, so they will have to negotiate a deal. We will still get a handful of future picks/prospects out of the deal. It won't be the return we could have gotten today, or last year's Trade Deadline, but it won't be nothing.

It's literally the worst possible scenario and so Wizards. Actually, if we super max him that will be worst case..but we could all see something like this coming from a mile away.

Indeed. We’ll get Boston’s garbage. Book it!
Instead, and as many here pleaded (including yourself), Beal should have been traded to recoup some value but it seems we have one of the most inept ownership and front office across the league.

The negative -- &, frankly, ugly -- stuff about Thomas Bryant in the last couple of pages of Part XLII makes me sick. & it makes me ashamed of the few fools who feel they have to utter it.
It also makes it clear they know little to nothing about basketball.
In both 2018-19 & 2019-20, Bryant was one of our very best players & one of the best young Centers in basketball. He led the team in TS% both years (among guys who played more than a couple hundred minutes) & in rebounding too (behind only Portis 1 of those years).
Nor is he, as some dimwit wrote, "a wretched defender," although no one would claim he is a plus defender. As to the idea that he isn't dedicated, doesn't work on his game, or other negative claims about him as a person, they're just nonsense. Reprehensible nonsense.
Early last season, Bryant had a major injury. Anyone who has watched Wizards news since then would know how hard he worked to come back from it, which he did pretty quickly.
That said, in the 150+ minutes he has played so far after being out 1.5 seasons he hasn't yet looked particularly good. Only a particularly mean-spirited or stupid person would judge him based on that. Apparently we have a few of those on the Board.
I'll be surprised if he doesn't return to form, given how dedicated he is & given his history as a player.

Yes. Sadly that is true. Beal should have been traded last year, but at least he was playing at an All-NBA level so there was a plausible argument that maybe if a 2nd star was paired with him, the team could at least make a 2nd round.
But once Beal took a step backward in production this season, it became totally obvious that it was time to rebuild. There was just no possibility whatsoever of building anything better than a 45-win team around him. For the life of me, I don't understand how Tommy and Ted can't see this.

Who would have thought that 3 guys combined that don't average 20 point a game collectively would have little to no trade value...
Yes, some Wizards fans like them, but to most other teams they are just fodder.

It's Ted. I think Tommy is smart enough to want to rebuild. Turd doesn't want to rebuild. He's perfectly content going for 9th.

I'd say it clear earlier than that, nate, but why quibble?
More importantly, I don't think Ted is oriented towards "building anything better than a 45-win team." A respectable team fills the arena, sells merch, etc. It's all good.
As to Tommy, let's not forget that he's done some pretty extraordinary stuff! The team he inherited had nothing. Zip, zero. It had Brad Beal, Thomas Bryant (whom Shepp had acquired for nothing) & the corpse of John Wall along with his colossal dead-weight contract.
That was 2 years & 8 months ago. He turned that mess into a playoff team his 2d season. I'd say that was pretty good. & then, even better, he put the "colossal dead-weight contract" era behind us definitively by moving Russ for Kuz/Trez/KCP.
If we don't acquire another one of those (by supermaxing Beal), then we'll actually have gotten to the next era of the Washington Wizards & be able to build something -- or at least try to.
If, on the other hand, we do supermax Brad, then either Shepp has come to the end of his usefulness, or else Ted is calling the shots.
Of course, Shepp has also done some things that didn't work out: every one of which was overwhelmingly supported by the fans on this Board, btw. He bungled the 2019 draft by going all-in on Rui Hachimura, who ain't much. In fairness, that might have been Ted's influence. He bungled Bertans by not taking a R1 pick for him when it was on offer. &, however good Avdija is & will become, it does look like Haliburton would have been the better pick.
It's possible Ted's hand was heavy in the Bertans decision as well as the decision to draft Rui for his economic upside rather than his basketball upside.
In any case, one little pin-hole will pop the whole balloon; those few mistakes have sufficed to bring an era to its end. This team has to start over.

Now run along back to your hole to mastermind your next post to really tell’em how it is. We wait with bated breath so you can once again tell us how stupid we are, who you would have picked in what draft backed by your proprietary formula, and all the other things we just don’t know and that you of course do.

We haven't even discussed the truly worst case scenario.
The absolute worst case scenario is that we get a top 3 pick in the lottery but then Ted tells Sheppard to trade it for some washed up has-been vet to pair with Beal so we can win 45 games for 2 or 3 seasons before fading back to our usual baseline level of ineptitude.
How does the #1 pick for, I dunno, Paul George, sound to everyone?

Well, if that No. 1 pick is Chet Holmgren, Tommy would rather quit as GM before Ted made him trade a Gonzaga player. I wouldn't be totally against trading the pick for a Paul George in his prime, not the injury-prone 31-year old. Though I get that in his prime, he's worth more than a top 3 pick in a so-so-draft. I think if we had that chance to draft a potential superstar, even Ted isn't dumb enough to trade him away.
