Collins is good, but probably would cost future picks. Simmons could be had for just a salary dump I bet and is a better fit.

I don't understand the motivation of Brooklyn trying to dump Simmons right now.
There are 3 options for Brooklyn:
1. Trade Durant and Kyrie for picks/prospect and rebuild. In that scenario, they would keep Simmons as part of the rebuild, or at least take the time to try and rehab his value. There's no value in selling low on him.
2. Trade Durant and Kyrie for win now stars in an effort to stay relevant, since tanking doesn't help them all that much because their picks are all gone. In this scenario, they would keep Simmons and rehab his value.
3. Ignore Durant's trade request. Keep Kyrie and try and win. This is really the only scenario where they might trade Simmons for more reliable but less talented role players. But this is by far the least likely scenario at the moment. If anything, the Durant trade request just nuked the opportunity to acquire Simmons on the cheap.
mhd wrote:Posted this on the trade board as a consolidation trade. Don't know if Turd would trade away his marketing ace in Japan, but this allows for more PT for Kispert & Davis while getting a great shooter and solid scorer in Bojan. Assuming the FO wants to resign Kuzma, there is no future with Rui.
Simple trade:
Wizards trade Rui+Barton (expiring) for Bojan
Why for the Wizards?
1). Ownership has mandated to never tank and always try to "win". With Deni & Kuzma (and even Porzingis), there is a PF glut. Rui is due an extension soon and the Wizards need to decide on his future. This trade does some consolidation while allowing for more PT for Kispert (and potentially Johnny Davis). Also saves roughly 1 million in cash (always a consideration for ownership).
Why for the Jazz?
1). They aren't resigning Bojan after this year as they are clearly rebuilding. They get Rui and play him as much PT as possible to see what he has.

This is awful. Why would we trade anything of value for a 33 year old on an expiring contract? You are just giving away assets for no reason.

NatP4 wrote:Wonder if Miami would do a Kuzma or Barton for Caleb Martin sign and trade? I’m sure we could eat Duncan Robinson’s contract in a deal, but I’m not sure it’s worth it.
Martin became one of the best 3&D wings in the league last year.
Robinson+Martin for Kuzma+Rui is interesting to me. Turn two guys that have no future with the team into one of the better 3&D wings in the league, in his prime, with a chance to lock him up for 3-4 years, and a bad contract, but a guy that is still a useful role player and shooter.

We just got rid of Bertans. Not sure I need to see Bertans jr in a Wiz uniform so soon after getting rid of his older brother.

We are not going to resign Bojan so basically we trade Rui away for 1 million dollars. This seems very bizarre to me. I'd rather bet on Rui continuing to improve and eventually becoming a valuable assett.

Utah receives: Ben Simmons, Will Barton
Washington receives: Bam Adebayo
Miami receives: KD, Kuzma, Rudy Gay
Brooklyn receives: Donovan Mitchell, Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson, Isaiah Todd
Most of the picks will probably head Utah's way, but I still don't know if this actually happens. I fail to see Miami getting KD and still being able to keep Bam.

LOL. You just managed to trade Barton and Kuzma for Bam Adebayo. Do you honestly think that's realistic?

I think the only way the Wiz get in on this is if they take Simmons on. Seems like KD can't get traded for most of the rumored players b/c of Ben's contract.
