Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Wizards drafted a guard a few months ago. I think I saw him in a commercial or something. Maybe he could help.

Kispert is practicing apparently and should be ready soon.

You have Deni avg 17 mpg and Rui 24 mpg ,time to bump up their minutes . Deni and Barton taking up backup guard minutes and Rui playing more . Deni can add 10/13 more minutes ,Rui 6/7 more minutes and Barton 4/5 minutes . Why risk playing time to guys not ready for primetime .

The Wizards will likely suffer some blowouts in the coming weeks. That’s the time to get all those new young players out there together, maybe with Morris or Avdija to help game flow. Garbage time, but against real NBA opponents, maybe some of them will show a little shine.

Gilbert would probably be more effective on Friday night than Johnny Davis

Kris Dunn is on the G-league team. Perhaps he gets called up.

There's nothing in Jordan Goodwin's previous G League performance to think he'll be very good. Most likely, Wrights minutes will be taken by Kispert and other current rotation players.

However, Kispert is not playing Friday, so Goodwin will get a chance to make his case.

What does "called up" mean? This isn't the MLB.
We have a couple of 2 way guys -- Goodwin & Schakel -- they can play in NBA games. Otherwise, it's our 15-man roster.

Goodwin will play Friday and until Kispert is ready. After that, assuming Goodwin is meh at best (he was a good defender in college), I think you move Deni to backup PG when Morris sits. Play him with Kispert and Barton off the bench. Play Rui at the 4 off the bench. Start Deni and yes, he'll have to play a lot of minutes so sit him around the 7 or 6 minute mark of the first quarter.

Yes, this absolutely has come at the worst time, because it gets incredibly tough after the Pacers and I don't care what the records are of the Nets and Sixers.

Understandably, a month of getting pummelled without Wright (ok, he's good but not the savior of the team), we start trading the likes of Kuzma, Rui, Barton, and others to try and get draft capitol.

6 to 8 is the new 2 to 3.

I think the team is being intentionally cautious with the time line. If we rack up a few losses now when the schedule starts to get tougher, we can point to injuries as an excuse.

That said, it's weird. When you look at line-up data, Delon Wright so far has been about as universally terrible in his +/- effect this year as Rui is.

https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/wrighde01/lineups/2023

scroll down to 2 man line-ups. Only Deni didn't suffer on court next to Delon. But they only shared one minute.

For the opposite reason maybe? Rui has tunnel vision and won't defend. Delon defends his guy, your guy, the popcorn vendor, the opposing bench, the dancers, and the opposing team's bus driver. He won't shoot much though, and is conservative with passing. He guards himself. Teams can load up everywhere else.

Could be a fluke of small sample size. I might look back over his career and see if this tends to be true.

Unless after Jan 5, then you can ink players on 10-day contracts.

Or if we have 4 or more players injured for more than 2 weeks, and can apply for a hardship exception.

Maybe they can cut someone & sign Dunn to a vet minimum contract?
