XLV. I can’t read Phoenician or whatever those characters are but sounds important, let’s make this thread a good one.

Switch to this new thread somehow ate a response of mine.

I love the Kuz/Wright for Simons trade tleikheen so keenly proposed! :)

I'm not as high on Simons as both he & badinage seem to be, tho don't get me wrong -- I like him! But I'm so much lower on Kuz that the trade probably looks even better to me than it does to them! :)

But... Simons is a combo guard not a pure PG. He's averaging 4 2/3 assists per 40 minutes this year, & he's playing if anything more minutes at the 2 than the 1. He's also a weak rebounder for a guard, tho that might change on a different team. What he is for sure is a strong scoring guard.

Thus, it makes better sense to keep Monte Morris than to keep Nunn (as badinage suggested in response tleikheen's proposed trade). Not to mention that of the two Morris is by far the better player.

This is a bigger move than one might think at first. Since Kuz & Wright would be going out, & Barton & Nunn would also be off the roster, while Simons is the only player returning to us, this set of moves opens up 3 roster spots.

We'd use one of those spots to convert Jordan Goodwin, & we'd be in a position to add some young talent in a try out mode for the rest of the season.

Plus, with Goodwin on the 15-man roster, we'd have both our 2-way spots open: I'd certainly give one of them to Quenton Jackson; the other might go to Maker?

As I say, this could turn out to be a pretty significant set of changes. & I don't really see any down side. I mean, I hate to lose Wright, but he is 31 years old & not a long-term asset. Getting a developing young player in a deal for him is a no-brainer.

Good thinking, tleikheen!

Oh come on, those are Roman numerals.

X = 10 (duh!)
L = 50
V = 5

XL, An X before an L, means "ten fewer than fifty" -- so this is the 45th iteration of this thread.

Jazz intend to buy out Russ after the trade. What are the odds we pick him back up (even though he requested a trade from us before)? Perhaps the Clippers will roll the dice.

Lakers trade doesn’t look good for sellers market.
If we traded Kuz, Morris, and Barton and got back a protected 1st in 2027 we would be pissed.

Something VERY fishy about that Lakers trade. They give up a guy who’s going to be bought out and a PROTECTED first-round pick FOUR years from now … for, at worst, three rotation pieces and, quite possibly, three starters?!? Could the league suck Lebron’s jock any harder?

Wiz will probably make a minor move if any. I think mistake Kuz's desire to not remove one of the highest bidders this summer and his professionalism as his willigness to stay long term.

LAC is now in its 3rd straight year of being in the tax and are now looking at a tax bill of ~150M. They are ALREADY in the tax for next years too. They need to save money AND improve.

Steve Ballmer has 90 Billion reasons to say no they don't.

Welp… The lakers, knicks, and suns were most talked about in a Kuz trade. Looks like that’s out the window.
Get ready for a 3+1 for 25M/year

I’m afraid $25 mn is the lower bound…I fear Tommy is gonna pay him something around $120mn/4 years with a PO at the end

After the Durant and Kyrie trades the Nets have too many players, I wonder if we could snatch Cam Johnson and trade Kuzma to them...

They are also deep into the tax with a non contending squad...

Would love to swap Beal for Simmons and some of the Suns haul. Even if it's just a single first at this point.

C'mon bro...that's going too far. Beal is still a good player. Simmons is barely playable at this point. You'd be stuck with that albatross for another 3 years, hoping that he plays well enough to trade for an expiring at some point.

Another trade idea: with Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart sidelined for a while (and Gallo injured), would the Celtics bite on the following:

Wizards get Derrick White+Grant Williams
Celtics get Kuzma+Wright

Obviously, the Celtics do it because they think Kuzma is an upgrade on Grant Williams, providing more play making and clutch shooting come playoff time...Wright is a downgrade from Derrick White but the Celtics have Smart/Brogdon at that PG position come playoff time, and Wright provides outstanding D in short bursts that may come in handy. Moreover, the Celtics do this as they rather play Kuzma in the offseason than Grant Williams.

Disclaimer- I know, I am obsessed with getting rid of Kuzma to save Tommy from himself. I expect him to offer Kuzma in the order of $30mn/year, which is GM malpractice!

I assume nothing major will happen, but last year, Tommy went nuts right before the deadline so who knows?
