Perhaps not.
But venting is constructive, I think. It gets you — it gets some of us — to the next place.
This is fandom, right? Fandom is not about being rational. Fandom is about being emotional. Living and dying with a team. Caring about it more than we know we should. Vowing to give it up when that team, like this one, doesn’t love you back — yet being unable all the same to cut the cord.
This is a moment of hurt.
A moment of reckoning with the fact that I and many others placed too much hope and belief in a player. Invested too much. Cared too much.
It’s a feeling of being jilted.
There are positives here.
Among them: Getting rid of an albatross of a contract. Starting fresh with new management and a new approach. Having a lot of flexibility under the cap.
On a smaller level, not having to watch the bad body language anymore, not having to see the sulking on court and to the refs, not having to watch a guy lead without leading — these, too, are positives.
And for me (maybe not for others, but for me), and admittedly it is a small thing in the larger picture: but not having to experience his smugness and sanctimony — this, too, is a positive.
