Our three 2-way players?

Under the new CBA, each team has three 2-way slots. An excellent move, in my opinion.

At present, we have only one of those slots filled -- with Quenton Jackson.
It's a long shot, but I don't think it's out of the question for Jackson to wind up with a spot on the regular roster, given that we are now at 16, & it's very possible that both Gallo & Shamet will be gone -- possibly bringing back draft capital but not a player.

But, even with Jackson on a 2-way, we still should ask who the other 2 guys will be?

Will one of them be Vukcevic?

Will we bring back Huff?

How about Trevion Williams?
He was on a 2-way with us over the second half of last season; he played 450 minutes with the GoGo, & put up outstanding numbers! He grabbed over 17 boards per 40 minutes while scoring almost 18 points at a TS% of .636. He's an excellent passer for a big, logging 5 assists per 40 minutes as well. He's not without problems, OTOH, as he turned it over a lot & fouled a lot as well.

Still, if Trevion transferred that production to the NBA, he'd be a terrific player. So... does his potential get him 1 of the remaining 2-way spots that are open?

I've mentioned Kennedy Chandler -- he'll be on Brooklyn's SL team, so we'll get a chance to see him.

Anyone on your radar?

Dejan Vasiljevic is a dark horse to get a slot, I think. He's 26, but with the extra 2-way slot coming into play I think he could sneak in there if he plays well in the summer league.

Another option would be Jules Bernard. Good production in the G-League last season. Only 23. He'll have an opportunity to make something happen in the Summer League.

He won't get a chance in the Summer League, but I wouldn't mind seeing Devon Dotson get a slot. 14.8 ppg, 6.4 apg, 4.4 rpg last season in the G-League. Very solid shooting splits at .526/.392/.814.

Osun Osunniyi is semi-intriguing as well. He'd be a Huff replacement in that he's a defensive specialist. I'd prefer if we brought back Huff, but that seems less likely given we didn't extend him a QO.

I feel like there is a need for someone big which makes me wonder if they offer something to Bol Bol.

Theo John & T Williams are playing with Minnesota for summer league, Huff is playing for Houston & Maker Makur? is playing for Philadelphia. Makes me think the team wants to go in a different direction.

Yeah, Dotson is a good player. I don’t understand why a NBA team doesn’t give him an extended look.

Dotson's per 40 minute production was quite good.

I'd love to pull Neemias Queta away from the Kings. I like him and Trevion Williams, but Queta has been crushing it in the G League. And not fouling out per 36.

Jay Huff started at center for the Houston G-League team, so I guess he isn't in our plans.

I’ve hopped on your Queta train. He’s a BIG man who plays really BIG.

Queta is not on the Kings roster at present. Neither regular 15 nor as a 2-way player.

They've given him a qualifying offer, but he's a RFA, so we could make an offer.

OTOH, the Kings only have 12 regular roster players with guaranteed contracts, & the one C they have is Alex Len, whose contract isn't guaranteed.

Omoruyi gets a 2-way contract

Omoruyi used to play for OKC so there must be a Dawkins connection. 6'7" and gritty sounds jsut like Gill and Cooks. Maybe we can bring Michael Ruffin back.

Yeah. I don’t get this one. Lots of options out there. Not sure we need more grit, especially from a tweener. We need a handful of skilled basketball players.

To me, the problem with Omoruyi is that he's 26 years old & hasn't established himself in any way at all. I'd like to see those spots go to young guys who are long shots but have some kind of visible potential.

I wonder whether Quenton Jackson will remain as the season approaches. He's athletic & talented, & he was pretty productive in college. I was pretty high on him.

But, he's a product of the Tommy era, & he's been pretty wild in SL this year.... The leash might be getting shorter!

Love to see Dejan get a shot. Pure, pure shooter.

I'd love to add Jared Butler to our 2-way roster, but I think guys with 2 seasons under their belt are no longer eligible for two-way contracts.

Omoruyi has played three seasons in the league. Only 660+ minutes, however -- maybe that's where there's a limit...?

Digging a bit deeper, it looks like the issue isn't specifically with a two-way contract, it's with the G-League

Players with more than 2 years of experience cannot be forced to play G-League games without their consent. And presumably, you can't sign a two-way contract if you don't consent to play in the G-League.

So if Butler can find a team who could put him on the regular rotation, he probably won't consent to a 2-way contract.

Butler looks about 10x better than Rollins as a prospect.

I think Rollins looked great in the Summer League. I wouldn't mind seeing him be the backup PG if Delon gets moved prior to the season.

Rollins is almost a full 2 years younger than Jared Butler.
Butler has a history of health issues (heart) -- though he may well be past all that now.

Rollins has a guaranteed contract. It was given to him by that amateurish organization, the Golden State Warriors.

OTOH, it's hard to see how Butler stays with OKC, since they have 19 guaranteed regular roster contracts already.
Plus options on Isaiah Joe & Aaron Wiggins.
