Germany has a bunch of current NBA players on their team, we had to fight back from 16 down to win.
https://www.usab.com/gamecast?id=1650I don't see another USA Basketball thread....

Figure I would put this here- Cooks had 21 points and 16 rebounds in Australia's game against Japan- it was Japan but Cooks has looked solid even in games against Japan/Finland.

From games I’ve seen so far, Reaves and Halliburton do a better job of running the team than Brunson. With Brunson as starter, US has gotten off to slow starts. He dominates the ball.

From the first two games, Brunson actually had as many assists than Halliburton. I do agree that the bench unit has been better at moving the ball but I believe that was because of Ingram; Edwards also struggled a bit. I would say that Halliburton is slightly better at moving the ball and Reaves is much better at ball movement through the first 2 games. Brunson was still shooting 71%, with a better assist to turnover ratio than Hali- so I do think it is too soon to make any changes.
It was against Jordan, but Josh Hart in the starting lineup instead of Ingram, Brunson was 5/8 from the field with 4 assists and was +30. Looks like Edwards finally caught on fire but the defense was much better with Hart as opposed to Ingram.

Maybe we could re-name this the
2023 FIBA World Cup Thread?
Africa AND Asia not in the Round of 16.
The Caribbean has Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
Greece survives, Australia going to Paris.
This now means that 8 spots are up for the Qualiying Tournament NEXT YEAR before the Olympics in the 17-32 bracket, and that's not including France and the two auto bids for Asia and Africa
The bottom 5 teams are done from any Olympic shot.
My guess is Egypt, Mexico, Venezuela, Lebanon and maybe Iran don't make it to qualifiers.

Power rankings

Schedule for the first knockout games. I wonder who the USA will use to defend Vucevic.

Team USA is asking for an early exit, once-again they did not pull-away until late.

Wild World Cup, the days of U.S dominance are over.

US getting killed on the boards. Jackson is not a good rebounder for a center. Would we be better off with Walker Kessler? Probably will not find out. The team was not constructed with rebounding as a priority, which may be our undoing.

It felt like the US didn't really throw everything against the wall against Lithuania. For instance they went through a long stretch of playing Ingram. Felt like the US came forward with a much stronger effort in a single elimination loss and now the team won't be complacent.
BTW, Cam Johnson has looked pretty bad over these games. Hopefully, he can play well for the rest of the tournament.

Nope, he did shoot 80% in his last 2 games if you include his 7 out of 7 performance against the Dominican Republic.

US loses to Germany. Germany played as well as they could, shooting 58%. US couldn’t seem to keep them from getting good shots.
Felt like US had better players and would win a 7 game series. Game had a similar feel as the loss to Lithuania. A near perfect game by the opposition.

No one doubts that US team has the best talent. The only reason for ever loosing a game is because sometimes talent is not enough..
Team-play fundementals are lacking and even Kerr, Spo and Lue can't fix that

113-111 loss, it's interesting to watch the evolution of international basketball play and the players, the U.S. is going to have to work much harder to win this thing going-forward.
