Man, Kispert comes off as such a great influence, both on the court and in the locker room. Coaches must love him. All positives, no negatives.

I know some people around here (penbeast0, I'm looking at you ;)) have contemplated trading him because his upside has a ceiling, but I seriously doubt that's going to happen. I think he's going to be a Wizard for a long time.

For me, the issue with him is defense. He gets targeted and abused by the opposing wings very frequently. If my memory serves me well, Josh Harris (a comp for Kispert) got to be defensively competent at some point in his career. I wonder if Kispert can get there. Unless this happens, I'm afraid he will be unplayable in high stake games.

And for the record, I also like the guy. High basketball IQ, good personality, speaks his mind and great 3pt shooting.

I’m really not worried about Kispert’s D because the effort and smarts are there. He will never be a plus defender but he’ll be good enough to not get played off the court. The key for Corey is to be sharing the court with a good defender or two, most importantly a rim protector.

Kispert is already one of the NBA’s best 3pt shooters and in today’s game that’s a major plus. And late last season he began to display a more diverse offensive game when given the opportunity.

Corey looks like a core piece of the Zards future. The recent Athletic article about Tyus Jones says that Jones "has spoken with Kispert about how he intends to help Kispert generate open shots."

Love that Poole moved Bilal's locker closer to his. It starts with a gesture, but I can see it translating on the court when Bilal struggles in a game. Nice for every rookie to have someone looking out for them. Russ was the same way with Deni.

This is the first time in awhile I'm actually...excited...to watch Wizards basketball. Feels weird.

No offense to Beal, but having him on the roster felt like a YOY retread of losing.

And yea, Kispert should be considered as a core member of the team. He's inteligent, works hard, and is one of the most dangerous shooters in the NBA. Every team in this league could use him.

When did these start happening?

And Muscala looks like a linebacker. I want him setting a serious screen every game.
Hopefully it’s not all fashion padding under that jacket.

seems like an insane overreaction to me

half our team is fringe NBA talent who might do better as male models anyway

Who gives a **** about a twitter thread anyway, I can do without gifting that bozo clicks.

I'll say this though, who in the Susan O'Malley schedules a Michelob Ultra fashion show featuring Wizards players the 2nd day of training camp?

That is some unserious **** 100%, not enough to get upset about like it means anything though.

This team wouldn't crack 30 wins if they held training camp in Siberia.

Interesting take from Corey on Tyus as our vocal leader. I would've assumed Kuz or Poole, but it sounds like Tyus is really ready to be a full-time starter in this league, and that's exciting. Given his expiring contract, I expect a healthy debate over whether to flip him at the deadline or try to bring him back on a team-friendly deal.

Much ado about nothing....

As to "not serious about training camp," I'm in Lisbon this week & next. Totally unserious of me! Fortunately the net doesn't actually care where I am!

I'm of the mind to bring him back at whatever deal. He will have higher value to this team going forward than his dollar value under an expanding cap. The team is planning to build with youth. Having a coach on the floor who can streamline the learning process and put young players in position to succeed is massive. His skill set improves the skillset of every player we draft or develop. Many rebuilding teams fail because they lack the right mix of vets and youth to teach professional habits. Young talent often burns out spending energy in the wrong directions. A good vet point guard can accelerate the growth of a team.

A young veteran, Tyus will maintain his value going forward, especially since his game doesn't rely on jump-out-the-gym athleticism to succeed. He has been in the league 8 years but is just entering his prime since he joined the NBA at age 19 after cutting down the nets at Duke.

The Wiz have 2 things we can offer him, cap space and a starting job. Other teams might have one or the other, but I don't see a team with both. There are teams that can offer what we do not have: the probability of a deep playoff run. Those teams may reach out mid year with an attractive package of picks and prospects. Obviously we have to listen to that. But if Jones' representation indicates sincere interest in him sticking with this team, me personally I say we try to extend and retain him for the foreseeable future.

To me he's in the CP3 track of the sort of player who has value beyond his individual box score stats. I mean okay, I'm not calling him a twin of the HOF point god, just saying his presence will show a +/- boost for his teammates. I'm curious to see if Memphis' bench performs as well without him as they have the past few years. I'm predicting right now that team is not 2nd best in the regular season this year. Likewise I think the Wiz with Tyus will prove a better team than Vegas is suggesting right now. Health allowing, he will give good value for his paycheck wherever he ends up.

Oh and I could give a crap about a fashion show, but really am tired of histrionic Wiz fans looking for every opportunity to wail and moan about the team. It's a tiresome act, and you don't see it most other teams in the league. We understand, there is a long history of hurt feelings, so your hate muscle is robust and bulgy. How about working your mandible muscle to keep your mouth closed and STFU about it for a minute. So the team doesn't start out sour about whiny and bxtchy fans who show up to complain with the loudest voices, but not to cheer and defend the home arena. New team, new management, new outlook, new plan, new players. How about a probation period before you lose your shxt over something totally inconsequential. Tired of it.

^ Yes. Yes. A thousand times yes.

Everything is not a referendum on everything.

Jesus.

But this incessant scrutinizing of things in the culture, this hyper-inside baseball-ization of things, this constant poring over data of things, this fetishization of the minutiae of things … so, so, so tiresome.

Yup... as I wrote above: "much ado about nothing."

To me, this is a big moment.
Only a beginning -- but at least it really has begun.

We are in an entirely NEW ERA!
Results will take time, but there is no mistaking the radical -- & O so welcome! -- change.

Interesting that Muscala brought Rollins up.
Hopefully he shows something in the preseason games.
His summer league was not memorable.
