GT #35: Knicks @ Bullets 7 PM (MSN/980 AM)

Post#1 » by FAH1223 » Sat Jan 6, 2024 5:03 pm

YOUR Washington Bullets are 6-28!

Another night, another blowout loss to the Cavs in Cleveland.

Losers of 3 in a row, the Bullets are only 25 losses away from getting to the Pistons record. Is it possible? Especially with one of the worst defenses in the history of the sport?

Tonight, they return home and face a new-look Knicks squad. Brunson and Randle remain the headliners but RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley are now in Toronto. OG Anunoby, repped by CAA and the son of Leon Rose (Knicks President and former CAA exec) is their new man on the wing. Some of have said that Thibs has his new Luol Deng and I'm sure he'll play him 40 minutes a night if he can. They are coming off a 30+ blowout win over the 76ers.

Knicks fans in DC will flood Cap One. Another L incoming for the tank.

Remember when Poole dropped a lot of points on the Knicks in preseason? Good times. Now he has 2 points in his last 5 quarters.

Halftime and the Wiz are down by 20.

It means that over the last 10 quarters, they have been outscored by 83 points.

Just so bad...

The brain trust seems to have made absolutely zero adjustments to improve the competitiveness of the team- or heck, even how entertaining they are. No changes to the starting lineup, few changes to rotations, not rewarding good play or punishing bad...

One thing- it's absolutely 1000% certain that this team will get better than what we've seen these last few days.

Does Leonsis even care about the Wizards anymore?

Kuz with 27 pts and Deni with 23. Kuz took 21 shot and scored 10 - 47% Deni with 9/13-69% ...
Deni with 10 REB , Kuz with 2. Deni with 6 AST and Kuz with 2. so tell me.. who between them should get the ball more and make all the team decisions ?

Dear Deni Avdija,

If by some chance you happen to read this, I am so terribly sorry you have to play with such clueless dumb teammates. With teammates who don’t fight and scrap. Who don’t make the right play. I’m so terribly sorry your budding game is being stunted by these players.

You played wonderfully tonight. Running point at times. Running secondary point. Hitting some threes. Driving. Using your body. I think you’re just beginning to learn how good you are. It’s exciting to see.

You are the only reason to watch this team this season. You and Bilal. Let us both hope that brighter days are ahead, with teammates who know ball and have talent.

With gratitude, but also with concern for your emotional and spiritual state,

Deni is awesome. Such a great young player.

Only other takeaway: Jared Butler still refuses to miss a shot. 3-3, 8 points in 3 minutes. Play the guy.

You had me at hello... :)

Dude is going to be great if we just get out of the mentality that he can't do more or that he has limitations. Sure it pisses me off that his free throw shooting falls off whenever he starts playing really good, other than that, I'm happy.

This dude keeps popping up on advanced defensive metric after advanced metric as an outlier (in a good way), has point forward abilities, has shown that he'll hustle his ass off and has a fire to him, rebounds on both end, and is actually a decent shot blocker and steal obtainer considering his average wingspan, yet people keep doubting what is painfully obvious... that the kid is a building block piece if you just give him some confidence, latitude, and most importantly let him touch the damn basketball.

Loving this dude Kuz. If he's traded, I'll be sad to see him go. Which is crazy because before he got here and even just after, I thought the dude was a clown. Still looks like a clown but he legit gets it. We are trash and he calls it right out. Need him to come out and drag WUJ and Jordan Poopoo next. Throw a dig and Grundle jr., might as well.
Can't say I do. Who else gonna shoot?

Deni's form on 3s looks good, I just think he needs to be able to shrug off misses better.

Even the best shooters miss more than they make, and the variance will be wide, so if you let misses bother you it will drag down your accuracy.

I can't believe Thibbs played Hartenstein 39 minutes against the Wizards!

He only sat for one minute in the 2nd half until the last 2 minutes of garbage time.

I'm very satisfied with Deni's performance last night. This is exactly the level of aggressiveness I'm expecting him to show every single night. If that alone happens, good things will come for him and for the Wizards.

One aspect in his game I'm still waiting him to develop is a reliable 1 v 1 'go to' move. If he develops such, while maintaining or improving his current other aspects of his game and the level of aggressiveness we saw yesterday , we're talking about a very high level player.

A big IF. But certainly possible considering his age.
