I am a fan of both the Champagnie twins, justin & Julian (who has a regular roster spot w/ SA). I was eager to pick up one (both?) of them after they went undrafted in '21.

Well...He's either a short forward or a tall guard. But he shoots like a power forward. 30% from 3 and poorly from the line. He did look good in those clips though.

We already have a guy like that in Omoruyi, only he can actually play PF.

The only fear is if his minutes displace Kuzma instead of Deni, resulting in fewer empty stat possessions; or if playing JC cuts into Bilal's developmental time.

It doesn't really matter. The hit rate on these 10-day contract guys panning out to be useful rotation players is pretty low. Sometimes you can find a walk-on in the offseason who is good enough to stick around the league as a 10th man (Garrison Mathews, Jordan McRae) but you usually don't find those guys in the middle of the season. The only exception I can think of is Gary Payton II, but he is a really weird player who fits great in Golden State as a rim-running guard, but pretty bad everywhere else.

I'm excepting the Miami Heat of course. They routinely find walk-ons who end up being top 7 rotation players who sign MLE contracts or larger. Their track record is ridiculous: Max Strus, Gabe Vincent, Duncan Robinson, Caleb Martin, Haywood Highsmith...

Worth a shot I guess...but that putrid 3pt % does not inspire much confidence on whether Justin would be able to stick around. He plays hard for sure, we shall see.

This thread's title needs to change. On March 3, the Wizards signed Justin Champagnie to a 2-way contract.

Having signed Omoruyi to a regular roster contract 2 days earlier gave Dawkins an open 2-way slot for him.
