Props to PIF for being the first to hype Champagnie. I’m waiting for him to launch a thread in Justin’s honor.

Thanks for the prompt, Zards.
I've liked the Champagnie twins since they were in college, Justin at Pittsburgh & Julian at St. Johns.
Justin was a one and done player who was predicted to be a R2 pick but went undrafted in 2021. He's bounced around the league, never getting much of a chance until he reached us. I was delighted when we inked him to a 2 way deal, as I think he's quite a good player.
He's been nothing short of terrific as a Wizard! In December, Champagnie has averaged 35 minutes a game & has put up absolutely outstanding numbers! He is scoring @17.5 points per 40 minutes at a 63% TS%, while logging 9.75 boards per 40 minutes. That is, to put it simply, great stuff -- terrific numbers for a wing.
Justin is still only 23 -- younger than some guys drafted this year! I'm expecting him to wind up on our regular roster. He'll have a long NBA career, IMO.
Meanwhile, his twin brother Julian, who came out a year later & also went undrafted, played 1500 minutes with the Spurs last year & is logging just over 30 minutes a game this season. He's good too!

Gonna be awfully hard to get Champagnie out of the rotation if he keeps ballin’ like this. Teams often overlook or underestimate undrafted players, especially those who have already been on 2-3 different NBA teams. They typically don’t prioritize their development, focusing instead on players they drafted. I hope the Zards make an exception with Justin.
As a Big East fan, I knew more about Julian Champagnie, who played at St. John’s, than I did about his twin brother Justin. I do recall that Justin was the better college player.
The Champagnie’s attended Bishop Loughlin in Brooklyn, which also produced Mark Jackson. That makes me smile as a native New Yorker.

If they look at his last five game games scores, they should note he's already developed.

He is also averaging 2.0 steals per 36 minutes with just 1.0 turnovers. That in addition to his excellent rebounding really helps the team win the possession battle.
His on/off differential is an astonishing +11.7 in limited minutes.

During a recent home game, this was the lineup for a short period of time. Probably my favorite:
Champagnie – Maybe the season’s most pleasant surprise.
Butler – A steady hand. Plays with poise and patience...and gets to the rim.
Bilal – A defender and high riser. Offensive game is inconsistent but coming along.
Sarr - A long, athletic, 19 yr old 7 footer with a ton of raw talent. Potential game-changer on D.
Bub – A 6-4 guard who loves to hoop and compete. B'More tough and a future team leader.

Shouldn’t have resigned Corey, that was a mistake.

Right, he is easily forgettable, and easily replaceable with someone better…like JUSTIN **Church lady voice** (SNL)

They need to play more Champanie and Butler, and less Poole and Kuzma. Butler and Champagnie fit the mold of players they should be surrounding the young players around...not those two other no defense playing shotjacking bums.

He’s been really great. Plays hard and smart. These clips also show Sarr making some nice saves of bad passes and turning them into good short roll passes. Love the way these young guys are playing!

Can't disagree, you know I've been in the tank for Butler since we signed him. However, Poole's play this year means he deserves to keep starting and showcasing to make believers around the league. Kuzma's play this year means he deserves to be coming off the bench where he can hopefully turn things around; though it is a bit of a positional stretch to start Champagnie or Coulibaly at PF. I've never liked having the two overconfident gunners in the lineup together that much. Butler should be getting some 4th guard minutes but I can't complain that the team is prioritizing Carrington.
