Apron teams can’t roster first round picks?

It's the least favorable from Clippers, Thunder, Rockets, Sixers. So does this mean it's guaranteed to convey?

This pick will be either the Rockets or the Thunder's next year. I would assume one of those two teams will pick in the bottom 4 of the first round. So the question is, are 4 second-round picks worth this deal? Unless all four of those picks are at the bottom or near the bottom of the second round, I am not certain that this is a great deal.

I'm pretty sure it does. However, all of those teams, except for the current Sixers are playoff teams, meaning it was assuredly be a late 20's pick. Maybe even the last, if OKC does its thing. Still like the trade though!

This trade STINKS.

Jared Butler is good. It's unbelievable that on this poo ass roster, he never got a chance to show what he was capable of. Hell, you can make the argument that he was the best guard on the roster.

And they traded 4 SRPs for the least favorable of clear playoff teams, so a pick in the low 20's. Porbably the last pick in the first since it's the Thunder. Since when is pick 28-30 worth four SRPs? The value is so terribly off, and you have to take Reggie Jackson's corpse off their hands. WTF.

As the old adage goes, a dollar today is worth more than a dollar tomorrow. Based on our timeline and needs, even a bottom 4 1st in 26, is worth way more than a early-mid 2nd, in 27, 28 and 30.

I’ll miss Butler. He torched the Sixers last month…and now they’re trading for him. With the addition of AJ Johnson I figured it would impact Butler.

Hoping Jared does well in Philly. Happy to get a FRP for him.

This is pure bunk. Any GM with half a brain would prefer the SRPs (and Butler) over a pick in the late 20's. And #26 is like the best case scenario...it's probably going to be pick 30. So who in their right mind would give up that many SRPs and a good young player for pick 30?

Give me a break.

We had an excess number of 2nd round picks so i don't mind consolidating them for a 1st next year.

I have felt for awhile that Butler's ability is being wasted on a tanking team, that he could be useful on a team trying to win now. Glad to see he is getting the chance.

I'm with TGW, this seems like overkill. we're giving up the better player and the draft value of 4 second rounds vs 1 late 1st rounder.

i also don't know what it's seeking to accomplish other than to clean up the glut of second round picks.

Uh, did the Thunder give up a good young player in that deal? Exactly...no they didn't. And they don't need 5 SRPs...their roster is loaded. The Gizzards are nowhere close...they need all the picks they can get, not the last pick in the first round.

You have zero idea about what 2nds we traded. You’re clearly pissed off about management and your bias is clear. For all you know, we traded one of the many late seconds we have… (Denver/Suns/Warriors over the next three years).
Sure… If we traded any of our seconds/Chicago seconds in the next 2 to 3 years, then you may have an argument. Otherwise, the value is fine. Jackson makes the Vet Min, so it’s not like we took on any salary.

Stein says we're sending out a 2nd round pick in '27, 28, and two in 2030.

Second round picks in 2027: unprotected Brooklyn or Dallas 2nd rounder, own 2nd rounder, unprotected Warriors 2nd rounder, unprotected Phoenix 2nd rounder, Bulls protected 51-60 2nd rounder.

2028 - Nuggets 2nd rounder protected 31-33, unprotected Warriors 2nd rounder, swap rights with Orlando

2030 - own 2nd rounder, unprotected Portland 2nd rounder, unprotected Phoenix 2nd rounder

I would be curious which picks we send out but the pick will most likely be 28-30 and I have no qualms with that. For the same reason OKC isn't using their 17 first round picks or whatever it is, the Wizards aren't going to use all 18 of their 2nd round picks that they had coming into this morning. Jared Butler has no future here, and we traded him for a first round pick.

In today's NBA, SRPs are traded like they're free candy. So losing SRPs that are 2-5 yrs down the road isn't a big deal. They'll likely be replaced in future trades.
