Tempted to go with Smart who played defense like this game meant something, but went with Richaun as he’s been really solid this month.

I went with Bilal. He started off hot and was more aggressive looking for his shot. Good things happen when takes it strong to the hoop.

Gotta be Bilal. But man it was fun watching Smart play defense and get under the Nets skin

Was at the Capital One arena.

Smart defensively and Poole offensively won the game. As I can not give it to both, I gave it to Poole who had a great shooting evening while displaying effort defensively too.

A couple of additional observations:

Bilal had good numbers but it left the impression he could have performed much better if he played with more aggression. There were a few plays when he was approaching the basket and instead of going for a layup attempted a silly and unnecessary extra pass that ended in a turnover. Maddening! I hope someone in the coaching staff is in his ear about being more aggressive and attacking the basket more.

Kyshawn is gold, a joy to watch. A fighter!

Jordan Poole was:
8 for 13 shooting (61.5%)
5 for 8 from 3 (62.5%)
5 for 5 from the line
With 4 rebounds (felt like they all came in the 4th quarter)
2 assists
4 turnovers

Smart brought the juice in the 4th quarter. His energy and effort on defense powered that 15 - 4 run (I think it was) to end the game. Heck the Nets only scored 12 points in the 4th quarter. Sometimes I get the feeling he sticks his face in the man he’s guarding daring them to do something and jawing at them constantly knowing he’ll bait them into an offensive foul or technical.

The image in my mind of him waving his finger at Wall is starting to be followed quickly by an image of him jawing at Cam Johnson and drawing a charge followed by a strip on back to back defensive possessions in a game full of cheap chippy moments by Brookland players. (Even from some guy on the bench for Brookland… shout out to Middleton for calling that guy out)

My head wants to give it to Poole because I can’t recall a game when he’s been this efficient as a Wizard. But my heart wants to give it to Smart because I want the Identity of this young team to be one that won’t back down in the face of intimidation.

Dang it, I can’t decide who to vote for…
