Not a good game to win but you can't lose them all...

The team is so much better with Holmes playing in place of Sarr. They are so desperate for a rebounding, rim-protecting presence. Holmes has a +12.8 on/off differential. The Wizards are actually just -1.5 per 100 possessions when Holmes is on the floor. That's about as a good as a 38-win team.

The Wizards are 5-36 in games Sarr plays. The young man really needs to get a lot stronger.

The Wizards are 4-0 versus the Hornets.
They are 7-48 against the rest of the league.

Richaun has been really good. Will be interesting to see if we pick up option, try to negotiate a new contact, trade, or decline option. He’s 31 and apparently had no market at trade deadline.

I'll say! Along with Champagnie, he's our most consistent & best player.

Speaking of Champagnie -- in 22 minutes tonight, he scored 10 points on 6 shots & 2FGAs, while grabbing 8 rebounds (3 of them on the offensive end), & recording 2 assists, 2 steals & blocking 3 shots. Just a great outing.

I seriously doubt we pick up his option at $12.5M. But I think there's a good chance we give him the $500K to buy out his final year and then sign him to a new deal for something in the $5M range. Probably a 2-year deal with the second year a team option. He seems like a good guy to have on the bench, and it's always useful to have a little salary ballast to facilitate mid-season trades.

The only real hangup is that we might not have enough roster spots available depending on how many of our SRP's we use and whether or not we retain Champagne and Vukcevic.

They’ll pick up his final year and then let him ride off into the sunset after next season

The better he plays the more possible it is to trade him in the off-season.

Holmes was quite good in college, & I thought he was a bargain when he was drafted in R2 of the '15 draft. He's had a very good career so far, & at 31 gives no sign of having lost effectiveness.

I like what Holmes contributes, but at 31 he’s lost much of his effectiveness as a rim protector.

Older legs, less bounce. It happens to the best of ‘em.

I'm glad Bilal is shooting more. He kind of has to since Poole is out. In fact, the rookies and sophomores led the team in shots and minutes! Good to see, and I hope for more games like this in the future. But for Bilal, 6/18 shooting...is not good. All the vets had solid, if not good, games.
Couple observations... we need more player movement. Often times, its 4 players on the 3 pt arc, just standing there.
If Sarr is going to stay outside, then we need a strong rebounder inside.

That said, 2 wins and 3 losses since the break.

What on earth possessed the Hornets to offer Mark Williams to the Lakers?

He's 23 years old and a beast.

Good scoring balance. Middleton led but with only 17 pts.

As I was going to bed, I was trying to remember who played pg
besides Bub before I looked it up and remembered, oh yeah,
We have Marcus smart.

CHA is really bad (like us).

Our lead, in games lost, is down to 3. CHA could edge us out by season’s end.

Respectfully, old friend, I'm not sure that's really true.
Can't really conclude anything from 400 minutes, obviously, but... give a guy his due! :) In those minutes he's rebounded & blocked shots at a very high rate. Not to mention a 74% TS%!!

I liked the decision to pay him $250K in return for an option on next year; just seemed like smart business. But, truth is, if he plays out the year at the level he's producing game by game, then he will definitely be tradable in the off-season -- a couple more R2 picks! :)

You got to find reasons not to play Middleton outside it's a back-to-back. This guy is the anti-tank commander (in a Cooper Flagg yr). Every NBA season he's had a positive on/off +/-. It's the bizarro Kuzma inefficiency vortex.
