Great news of course -- & an extraordinary bargain! Had I been Champagnie's agent I would never have accepted that offer.

He is averaging 15 points, 9 boards and 1.7 assists per 36 on a TS% of .607 over 732 minutes so far.

He also turns the ball over at a low rate (1.7 turnovers per 36) which is offset by his good steals rate (1.8 steals per 36). Just a good, solid player.

Does this year count as year 1 of the deal? If so I guess you can look at it as a 3 year $10 million deal which sounds a little more fair for his level of production

Smart deal, this is what I wanted the Wiz to do instead extending Corey.

He's better than Kispert.

Champagnie earned this deal.
Bye bye Beal.

Happy for my guy.

Saddiq Bey
Middleton
Bilal
Kispert
George (kind of)
Champagnie
Colby Jones (probably gone?)

That's a lot of wings. Who's getting traded in the offseason - Kispert?
Can't say I do. Who else gonna shoot?

Kispert and Bey will be flipped if the value is there. Colby Jones better start learning Chinese. I don’t think Middleton will be traded because no one trusts him to stay healthy just like Brogdan.

Middleton's trade value will have little to do with his on-the-court production and a lot more to do with the awfulness of the contract we take back in the trade.

This here. Its been clear for a while that we are running a guard academy in our GoGo squad. We rehab their value, train them up, showcase them at the end of the season, reward them with 10-days and 2-ways, give them every opportunity to earn PT on the back end of the bench. And recently we have inked them and kept them as assets. Amber Heard did a great job setting the stage, now promoted to Director of Amateur Evaluation. Current GM Jonathan Wall (not that one) seems to be carrying it forward. Cody Toppert is coaching them up right. And credit to WingerDawkins for showing the players they are valued. With numbers in a bank account.

Longtime board members will recall the slothful Ernie years where he dumped 2nd round picks like a hot potato, and we were amongst the last NBA franchises to start a development team, it's great to see us using the G-League as it was intended.

...along with more draft capital presumably.

Really good deal for a really good kid. I don't think it's a what was his agent thinking type of deal. It's guaranteed money for a 23 year old kid that might blow out his leg tomorrow getting out of the shower.

This makes me very happy. I was sure this was going to be another Jay Huff situation. I really like Champagne’s game and the way he plays. He’s exactly the kind of player we want to keep, glad he’ll be here for awhile and hope he continues to get good PT.

Makes Kispert expendable for a draft day trade up from 24.

Yeah, it's a total feel-good story -- really glad for him, hope he's a Wizard his entire career! Looong one...!
