Fire Brian Keefe, hire Mike Malone or Taylor Jenkins this offseason

Wizards could easily be a playoff or play in team next year with one of those 2 as a coach.

Keefe's job isn't to win games. Indeed, the man is trying to lose. You can't judge him under those circumstances.

Agree, but at the same time, he has to create a competitive culture. This kind of fiasco won't do it. I long for the days of Dejuan Blair or even last year with JV.

Edit: To be fair I appreciated the effort of Bilal and Gil to deny Bam at the end. I wish Keefe had come back with JC as well. Major part of the problem was the refs allowing Miami to make a mockery of the game.

A game like this, fair or not, makes it harder to bring Keefe back.

Yup, he's playing Anthony Gil in the 4th for a reason.

>>tontoz, how many points did Tre Johnson score in the first quarter? Adebayo had 31.
>>Raphael, do you believe Adebayo would have scored more than Kobe's 81 points against DQ?

How did this happen with both Tre Johnson and Alex Sarr dressed and healthy?

Queen would have facilitated, rebounded, and scored well enough to take Adebayo out of scoring rhythm. Tell me if this loss was better because Tre Johnson was a better pick than Queen. Or, admit this could not possibly have happened with Queen next to Sarr and DQ scoring on Adebayo.

P.S. ThIs is just one loss. Not a reflection on Tre's value or future. I hope the team is not down on Keefe.

I feel sorry for Brian Keefe. They sent JuJu to the G-League rather than play him with Alex Sarr.

This happened for one reason only, A'Ja Wilson.
She must have given Bam some bomb p before the Wizards game.

Keefe is doing exacly what he's supposed to do. You dont fire someone for that. You tank him for the great job. Tank you, coach.

Keefe is well paid to just lose games. I don't really feel like the team owes him anything next year. Maybe give him a special advisor role in the front office.

Enough of the mom and pop stuff. We got AD and Trae Young now. Would be happy if we got an established coach.

Also along the lines of no more mom and pop, I get the Gill brings vibes, but he can do that as another special advisor or assistant coach. Bring me a Charles Oakley who wouldn't allow a Bam-type fiasco.
Can't say I do. Who else gonna shoot? Urinal cakes!

I agree with the premise.

There is tanking and shameless tanking with no pride and making a fool of themselves . And Keefe truly represents the latter.

Let him finish the tank I guess. But if we are serious about competing next year, he has to be dismissed in the offseason.

Has Turd no pride? If I owned this franchise I would be very embarrassed.

Was it a real basketball game when he had 30, 40, 50? Didn’t send one double team at Bam until he basically had the record. Keefe is a joke, no coach I want near this team would allow this to come close to happening.

Wizards twitter is so angry at Keefe

They think the young players are ruined

But it is tough to play good defense without any centers

There have also been whispers for months that Washington would have strong interest in Jenkins if the Wizards decide to move on from Brian Keefe. Yet there has likewise been recent pushback emanating from the nation's capital to suggest that the Wizards are still deciding whether to keep Keefe in place for what would be his fourth season.

"It's very difficult for any young coach to survive a yearslong rebuild and [then] oversee a dramatic cultural shift of losing to competing," one general manager told The Stein Line.

The Wizards, of course, expect to be far more competitive next season after the front office duo of Michael Winger and Will Dawkins swung trades in January and February for former All-Stars Trae Young and Anthony Davis. Will Keefe get the chance to coach a team actually trying to win?

Since the thread is here let's throw out more names.

Michael Malone would have been a serious candidate.

Billy Donovan-if he leaves the Bulls he would be the top candidate and has an OKC connection of course.

Taylor Jenkins-he had a successful run with the Grizzlies.

Retreads: Frank Vogel and. Thibs was mentioned in another thread. Not interested.

Assistants:

Kam Woods-OKC connection
Chris Quinn-top Heat assistant
Micah Nori-Timberwolves assistant, two straight years voted as top assistant by NBA GMs.
Sean Sweeney-assistant coach for the Spurs
Sam Cassell-previous Wizards connection, well regarded.

I trust Winger and Dawkins to make a good coaching hire if Keefe is fired. The young players probably would benefit from a new voice and AD and Trae are ready to win now. So, we'll see.

I think Thibs wouldn’t be a bad coach at all for where we project to be next year. And we don’t have a superstar he can run into the ground..yet lol. But he could instill some really, really good defensive behaviors. Even if we only have him for a few seasons, I think he could be a great bridge guy for us. You see the vets around the league talking and complimenting our young guns about how intense they are.

Anthony Davis would have a heart attack if we hired Thibs.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Worst possible fit for a young team. He plays only vets. Has no patience for teaching. 8 player rotation that he plays to exhaustion. Would advocate that the front office trade all the young talent for his favorites. Probably bring back Taj Gibson for one more go round. No on the Penguin for me.
