Fire up the trade machine for AD to the Cavs as well. Unfortunately the Cavs don't have good salary filler guys. Allen would be the main piece fwiw.

Allen, Strus, and Schroeder matches for AD. And then in theory Strus and/or Schroeder could be rerouted -- they're on fine, short contracts.

I have one:
Lakers receive: Jarrett Allen, picks
Cavs receive: Anthony Davis, Lebron James (via MLE)
Wizards receive: Evan Mobley, Dalton Knecht
Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.

There is no possible way the Cavs trade both their big guys. And they're certainly not giving away Mobley like that.Rafael122 wrote:Benjammin wrote:Fire up the trade machine for AD to the Cavs as well. Unfortunately the Cavs don't have good salary filler guys. Allen would be the main piece fwiw.

Now, we have the opportunity to sell him and get back some real value - maybe a 2026 lottery pick - maybe even more. We need to seize that opportunity while it's available....
100%.
nate33 wrote:...What I care about is having the best possible team in the 2028-29 season when our actual window of contention starts. Trading AD for Yaxel (and possibly more stuff) accomplishes this goal....
Contributes it in any case.
nate33 wrote:...the best value play is probably to trade (Butler) for bad money that expires in 2028 plus incentive. The Paul George contract probably makes the most sense, or maybe to Portland for Grant and another short contract plus incentive....
Sure! This is a perfect sequence. I guess the one hitch is that it depends on Butler making a really strong recovery from his injury.

Shams Charania: BREAKING: The Los Angeles Clippers are nearing deal sending Kawhi Leonard to the Toronto Raptors for Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, 2 first-round picks, 1 pick swap and 2 second-rounders, sources tell ESPN. A return to Canada for the Raptors champion and two-time Finals MVP.

Wow. Why would Toronto do that. He’s over the hill.

Not yet. He played 65 games last year and put up 31-7–4-2 on 63% TS. Led the Clippers in on/off by a mile.
Still a top 5 player in the league.

Kawhi is so good, it's scary. If only he could have stayed healthy, he would have been a top 20 all time player, maybe even top 15.

If AD gets a maximum extension in August it's going to be really hard to be excited about this team's future or be invested in its young players knowing that if they break out they won't keep them in the long run.

Re: Official Trade Thread Part XLIX
This isn't that surprising. There's far too much of a gap between a healthy AD and the league's current view of him.

Re: Official Trade Thread Part XLIX
Healthy AD was last seen in Lexington. The guy we have today has almost a decade and a half of injury upon injury.
