OT: Eli Manning Rocks!

I wanted the Patriots to win and thought they'd blow the Giants away, but that one play where Eli avoided the sack and completed the miracle pass I felt like the Giants deserved it.
Eli showed strong, strong will power at the end and Plaxico was humble as he scored.

Is there not some divine justice somewhere? Belichick's arrogance prevented him from going for that long-ish field goal in the first half. Instead, he ordered Brady to go for it all on 4th down with a shot at the end zone.
And now they lose the Super Bowl and the perfect season by 3 points.
18-1. Epic. Like a Greek tragedy, where the hero's ego causes his ultimate downfall.

Nice escape, but the real highlight was the catch.
There was some serious divine intervention for Eli in that 4th. Near fumble, 2 missed intercptions, poor tackling. The real hero in my mind was the bad karma from the Patriots.

Isn't that rather classless of Belichick? Runs off the field without shaking hands, leaving his team to play out the last second alone?
I like so many of the Pats, but can't stand Belichick.

Maybe the bad juju is heaven, the spirits, the toothfairy whoever you believe in, paying Belichick back for being an a$$hat.

What a great game and my favorite part was that Plaxico gave credit to God.

Now I can teach my boys a lesson about how cheaters never win, Wiz99.
The angle I'll take from this is that NY's coach reduced his team's penalties from last in the league 3 years ago to the best. Attention to detail and playing by the rules won out today.
While the Patriots had a great offense, they showed they'd win by any means necessary; even gaining a competitive advantage by stealing signals. That was way early and the Patriots were a great team that didn't need to cheat. Still, had they won it all it wouldn't have been quite as sweet as to see them fall just a bit short.
I thought that Welker and Moss showed true
but Brady didn't today. He and his coach seemed a bit arrogant.
EDITED - Brady competed and was very classy in the postgame. So was Randy Moss. Belicik was crushed more than arrogant. He was crushed.

Is it really that out-of-character?

Tiki Barber sure was wrong about Eli.

I've been telling people all year the karma would come back and get the Patriots...I don't even know if i believed it, but it was true. i never thought I would be so happy from a Giant's win.

I really didn't care who won. But, I have to say that Manning had the gods with him this game. That should have been a pick to end the game with about a minute left.
From an impartial viewer, I think the Giants deserved the win because they played the better game. But, I still think the Pats are the better team.
At least it was a fun Superbowl to watch. Now, the focus can be on the greatest sport of all...NBA and college basketball.

I love underdogs, in almost anything, and on the other hand I didn't want the 19-0 to happen - So I was definitely cheering for the Giants the whole game. Absolutely amazing, it was so much fun to watch its hard to put in words...the last quarter was absolutely amazing. That catch was sick!

Yep.
This reminds me of the movie "Facing the Giants". The winning team wasn't the most talented team but they were the better team that game due to a whole bunch of unlikely circumstances all lining up in their favor.
I think the Patriots were much better, but the Giants got Brady and their defensive strategy was far superior today to Belichik's assessment of what his team should run. He was arrogant and it cost him.
One correction: The Giants dominated both lines of scrimmage and their game plan was tight. They were the far better team on both the offensive line and the defensive line.
Patriots were far more skilled offensively but their coach didn't figure he'd have to grind it out. Should have kicked the FG.

The Patriots were outplayed, no idea what game you guys were watching. 18-1...those first 18 mean nothing now.
Can't believe I'd be rooting for Eli and the Giants. People were calling for his head just 6 weeks ago. Now he knocked off the 18-0 Patriots behind a uber-clutch super bowl MVP performance.
wow, great game.

I think we all agreed the Patriots were outplayed tonight, so I don't know who your comments were directed to. Just some of us still believe that the Pats are overall a better team, as indicated by their 18-1 record. And I am not even a Pats fan.

I was just hoping the Giants would win simply so ESPN wouldn't obsess over the Pats for the next 2 months. With the Giants, they'll get bored in 4 or 5 days.
Then we'll have the opportunity for some non editorial focused sports coverage for a few months! Oh, until baseball gets close then it's back to steroid obsessing for ESPN.
