Gil....is back

I voted for Gil but Stevenson might have deserved it just a little bit more.

Gotta be Gil. He took over in the fourth... and that three ball. Woo, frickin' wooooooo!

Dsteve gets honorable mention: He is $$$.

Agent Zero...I'm not going to jinx us by saying he's back, but it was good to see a little cookin on the hibachi tonight.

Jamison had a great game, Gil had an amazing 4th quarter, and Stevenson can't miss.

the vote goes to Gil though for having his best game since he came back.

Gilbert Arenas: 20 points (FG:7/14, 3P:4/9, FT:2/2), 5 assists,

Man. The game was in the balance. They were all over us. There really wasn't another player on the team we could have turned to against them.

Gil pulled it out just went we needed him the most. He changed the tide with great passing, scoring and managing the game and then once we got them out from our buttox, the other players filled in.

19 mins Andray Blatche: 9 points (FG:4/5, FT:1/3), 3 rebounds, 1 steal,
3 blocks, 1 turnover

Blatche was also huge. Lots of players actually played well. But with them being so athletic, one thing I noticed when watching the game a 2nd time was the AB really changed the pace and help stop their fast break. He was a much better match up against Dalembert. He block shots and he ran with GA. This had a huge effect on the game.

DS 3rd for nailing all those 3's and 7 assist. He was huge. Hard not to but him 2nd but without us stopping their break, we weren't going to win.

But again, lots of players helped. AJ was there scoring once things got rolling and rebounding. He had a slow first half. AD scored well and drove. Songaila got us off to a fast start and short his share of post points. Some late in the game.

If we play them again, we have to remember how effective Blatche is against Dalembert. They are more similar players. Blatche is quicker then Haywood and has long arms like Dalembert. But with a healthy CB we would have been more athletic. Starting AB with BH would have been a nice option.

AB has a career high at half time in this game.

It was actually a great team win. But GA filled up the stat line when the game was in the balance.

PERFECT

1. Arenas -- We wouldn't have made the run we did in the 4th without Gilbert. He hit his shots, he passed extremely well, he pushed the ball and most importantly, he contributed positively to our team defense.

2. Stevenson -- Timely shots, as usual, and really solid defense down the stretch. He's been awfully clutch this season, and tonight's game was no different.

3. Jamison -- Solid night. He would have been ranked higher, but the numbers are a bit of an illusion, considering most of his 4th quarter points were spoon-fed, but as I mentioned in the gamethread, it still takes a solid interior scorer to convert as many as he did. And as always, outstanding rebounding.

Gil because of the way he dominated the 4th quarter. Vintage Hibachi that was.

Jamison was awesome [he's so, so consistent and never lets a tough start get him down] and Stevenson had a fantastic game. Songaila also played well. I thought Andre Miller killed us in the first half, but he did nothing in the second half.

I thought Haywood played some good defense and I like 10 boards, but Dalembert really bothered him. How did Haywood miss 8 of 10 shots when virtually every shot was within 3 feet of the basket?

It's not an illusion. Jamison knows where to be on the court and he releases the ball too quickly for the defense to react and close.

gilbert is back baby! if it wasnt for him the sixers could have easily taken this game. 2nd place goes to ds, dsong, aj, and ad. they all did a great job tonite. great win 4th place is ours!

Asked if, in a perfect world, that's the type of game he would want from Arenas right now, coach Eddie Jordan quipped: "That, and my wife not arguing with me. That would be a perfect world."

gotta go to gil. he helped us pull away in the fourth and looked like his old self, unstoppable. and that 3 was amazing.

deshawn was on fire, he had a couple 3's at the end of shot clocks and quarters, so ill give him second

Nice bounce back victory. Its a tough decision to choose the player of the game in this one. But I agree that Arenas is the most deserving by a nose.

I'm watching the game now (yay comcast on demand) so I'll vote after actually watching the game. I love how Songaila has gone from having his own amazingly sucky thread to starting for butler and doing great and no one even talks about it.

Stellar Ball Movement Sparks Wizards' Win

As the assists piled up for the Washington Wizards in the fourth quarter last night, so did their lead over the Philadelphia 76ers.

Gilbert Arenas found Andray Blatche and Antawn Jamison for layups on consecutive possessions. Darius Songaila zipped a pass to a cutting Jamison for a layup and then made a jump-hook following a pass from DeShawn Stevenson. When Stevenson caught a pass from Jamison and drained a three-pointer from the wing, the Wizards led by 12 and were well on their way to a crucial 109-93 victory in front of a sellout crowd at Verizon Center.

"It becomes contagious," said Jamison, who connected on 5 of 6 shots while scoring 10 fourth-quarter points. "With Gilbert out there breaking the defense down with his quickness and then finding the open man, it just got us going and we fed off of that at both ends of the floor. We just really got on a roll."

On another, Arenas spotted and then passed to an open Songaila, who in turn zipped a pass to a cutting Jamison for a layup, giving the Wizards an eight-point lead. Later, Arenas essentially put the game away with a three-pointer from 33 feet.

Jordan mixed zone and man-to-man defenses and the 76ers, who lack a go-to post scorer, went ice cold from the perimeter. Washington's offensive effectiveness took the 76ers out of any chances to get into fast-break situations that helped them build a 10-point first-quarter lead
