Soulja Boy has accepted DeShawn Stevenson's invitation

Post#1 » by Pass_The_Sticks » Sat Apr 19, 2008 4:32 am

Hip-hop artist Soulja Boy has accepted DeShawn Stevenson's invitation to sit courtside for the Wizards first home game against the Cavaliers in the playoffs.
Stevenson invited the rapper after LeBron James compared himself to Jay-Z, and Stevenson to Soulja Boy last month after Stevenson called James "overrated." While this is not fantasy newsworthy, and may not even qualify as news in any circles, it does add a little more humorous intrigue to an already intense playoff matchup.

Best. Series. Ever.

Oh I get it, I thought Deshawn brought up soulja boy first, but now I'm reading LBJ dissed Deshawn and soulja boy at the same time.

If Opec wants to do his part to help this team, he'll lead the VC in the dance. Watch me roll, son.

I would probably boo him out of the arena if they put him on the jumbotron in any other instance, but this is fantastic! I wonder if DS could convince him to completely blow off his crankin' fan LeTravel, seeing that LeTravel did kind of diss him as an artist. Maybe he could give LeTravel a New Yorker's hello from the front row...

The story was broke by the Plain Dealer:

DeAndre Way is not much of a basketball fan and, surprisingly, he has never seen LeBron James play. So when Way saw that James mentioned his stage name, "Soulja Boy" in a recent article, Way was caught way off guard.

"Someone from Interscope Records called me and sent me the quote," Way said. "I looked and didn't really think much about it. LeBron said something like he was Jay-Z and DeShawn [Stevenson] is Soulja Boy. I took that as [disrespectful]."

Stevenson responded to James' comments by inviting Way to an upcoming playoff game. Stevenson promised to have a courtside seat and Wizards jersey waiting.

Way said he will accept the invitation.

"I'm all for it," he said. "He invited me out and I don't have a problem coming. ... I'm [cheering] for whoever backs me. I can't go for whoever's going against me."

Soulja Boy may not be the biggest basketball fan on the planet (how a 17-18 year old American kid--a minor hip hop celeb at that--could have never seen LeBron play is beyond me), but he recognizes a marketing opportunity when he sees one.

I was gonna save my money to buy tickets for the 2nd round , but I've got half a mind to head down from NYC to catch Game 3 now. It's gonna be a circus.

Try Craigslist. I got two tickets in 106 for a really good price. Theres still plenty of seats with prices on it.
