Hey Washington Fans..Good Game (Cleveland fan here)

Post#1 » by DowJones » Thu May 1, 2008 3:36 am

I am just wondering a few things, and this isn't meant as a flame or anything like that. What I am wondering is why you guys have LeBron and the Cavs so much? I understand you wanting us to lose because we are playing your team, but in reading some of these threads over hte last 2 weeks it really seems like you guys have a true hate for LeBron and the Cavs. Why is that?

At first I thought it was because of the playoff games we have played, but I don't think that is the case. Last year we were the better team and you guys were all banged up. Clearly you can't have any hard feelings over last year. My only guess is the 2006 series still has you guys upset. I know you guys feel LeBron traveled (which is exactly what Caron did today, but I won't even complain about it...call it even) but with this much hostility I think it has to go deeper.

I am just wondering why? Is it something beyond the 2006 playoff series? Or did Washington have really high hopes of going deep into the playoffs, and Cleveland just "upset" them...even though the Cavs were the higher seed.

Anyway, the series has been interesting so far. I like our odds to win 1 of these next 2, but you never know. Crazier things have happened.

I don't really hate the Cavs, just Lebron.

I can't stand the double standard where he can consistently violate the rules of basketball. He travels all the time. I mean ALL the FREAKING time! Also, he doesn't get called for fouls when he fouls people. He also gets a ton of phantom calls but I can at least live that with because most superstars get their share of phantom calls.

But my biggest problem with Lebron is that he whines too much. The guy cries like a baby whenever he gets bumped. You can't have it both ways. You can go hard to the hole and throw your 250 pound body into people, and then cry like a girl when you get a hard foul.

yea he covers a lot of ground due to his size, but u clog the lane up when he drives and he'll throw in the extra step to get to the rim. the league needs to check this out.

as far as his whining, its nauseating to watch. i cant think of any past nba greats who whines like a girl like he does.

I hate lebron, the cavs, the city of cleveland and the NBA for wanting to make lebron james the next MJ. Let me tell you something you're going to be hating lebron james after 2010 ( i believe thats when hes a FA) hes going to the knicks basically the NBA wants to make as much money off of him as possible and make people believe that hes the next Jordan which he is not because MJ didnt whine, MJ didnt cry, MJ didnt travel everytime, MJ was a man he was respectable...MJ never hung out with rappers and had them make a diss track about another player.

And also the fact that he traveled his way into the second round in 06 that helps, the fact that he gets to have 7 fouls without fouling out (Game 4, this year)....blah blah blah

the cavs get all of the calls. the refs giftwrapped this one down the stretch for the cavs, especially starting when the game was tied at 82. Lebron barrels into the lane, BARELY bumps a stationary songaila yet gets the call to go ahead two. Then on the next posession, caron was obviously fouled by lebron, but there was no call and in the ensuing confusion delonte west gets a soft and one at the other end to put you up five. that would make any fan upset, and theres not really anything a cavs fan can say about that. the refs gave you a five point lead at the end of a series clinching game. Luckily, the wizards finally showed a little heart and completed the dramatic comeback tonight. I am pumped for game 6! make this another blowout ala game 3 and send it back to cleveland.[/code]

So you hate the Cavs because the officials conspire before each game to make sure that Cleveland gets the benefit of the doubt for almost every call? Is that right?

I like DWest's game. Varejao never fails to amuse me, I like him on the Brazilian squad. It's a fine thing that Big Z finally has bionic feet after years of problems, it's a shame there are few centers in the NBA who have his throwback/eurostyle game. Ben Wallace is a class act, nice guy, and as an X-Wizard I have a soft spot for the guy.

I never really liked Wallyworld, for no especial reason. Boobie similarly bugs me in some undefinable way. Can't stand the mutant goldfish Damon Jones. And unlike a guy like DWade, who's a relentless Wizard-killer but for whom I have nothing but respect -- LeBron's fatheaded self-important, shallow, auto-fellating, cephalo-colonic, disloyal, glory-hound, panty-waist aggrieved whinging just puts me off my feed.

The guy gets superstar treatment already, but an call that doesn't go his way is met with the horror stricken look of a bratty kid up past their bedtime-- followed by a tantrum to the refs complete with eye-rolling and tossing his hands down in a huff. It's baffling to me that they let him get away with traveling as often and as blatantly as they do, I can understand allowing Iverson to palm the ball sometimes in a crossover too quick to see, and hey it's flashy, fun to watch. But watching LeBron bull past his man taking three, four steps and a power hop is impossible to miss. A mockery.

This series has seen far less of the traveling thing, and the Wiz fouls have mostly left no question in the minds of the refs or the audience. But that still doesn't alter my dislike for the guy one iota.

He is a douchebag. Like talking **** behind another man's back and remember that Starbury comment? I hate how he is being forced on us through the ESPN hype machine and by David Stern. I hate how he is the "King" when he has not won an NBA championship and he always gets the US bronze medals in every international competition. Bottom line is I am not a witness, ****.

I agree 100%.

I respect the great talent and the basketball IQ of James. Kicking it out to Delonte in game 4 was something Gilbert can't or won't do for his own teammates. James gets by Stevenson at will. He dunks on guys like Ruffin. What's not to like about the way he plays?

Now the way he whines, has a sense of entitlement, wants to have it both ways all the time--like nates says the guy gets all kind of phantom calls and he travels with impunity--but he whines for more. (???)

Can't stand Lebon. I don't like the look on his face. Even when Kobe was as arrogant as ever, he wasn't a jerk to me. Not MJ. Not trash-talking Bird. Those guys kicked butt out there and they didn't whine. Wade gets to the line a ton, too. But he's not as big of a whiner as Lebron.

What I REALLY DON'T CARE FOR is the media. They're pulling for this guy like he's a better person or he's so great that nobody can beat his team.

They make me "hate" Lebron more than he does himself.

The ONLY guy I can think of is Rick Barry, and that was over 30 years ago.

Lebron whines about calls more than any player I know of.

I'd have so much more respect for Lebron and his game if he didn't whine so much to the refs. Did you see his reaction after his last shot?

If anyone is confused on what I'm talking about, just watch how Chris Paul plays the game. Watch the contact he takes which isn't called and his reaction.

Exactly. It reminds me of the mid 90's when Shaq had four years in the league and was voted as one of the 50 greatest players in the history of the NBA. The media makes him out to be the MJ when really all he's done is win one series against a tough team in Detroit last year after gimmies against an injured Washington and a pathetic Nets team and then get swept in the finals.

I truly hate his whining but Haywood said it best, he just needs to shut up and play, but it really is the fact that the media glorifies him constantly moreso than any other player I can remember. Heck even this morning ESPN listed him as the player of the day when the guy scored only 2 points more than Butler, missed 13 of 21 shots and the game winner. It doesn't actually matter what he does or how he does it, the media wants to make him the focus of the story.

The media acts like everybody watching these games is a Lebron fan. Like after the Wiz had their biggest playoff win in their history and the Cavs had their biggest loss (which is big when you've sucked so bad you've never won a championship), does ABC even mention the Wiz? No they go talk to Lebron so he can insult the Washington fans and we can all "witness" his ego as he insists we can't even believe what we're chanting when we chant "overrated". The only thing that is keeping this guys head from inflating to the point it pops is his stupid headband.

and i know it's been a while, but did anyone else notice on the intro to the games on Sunday, after the Wizards had just embarrassed the Cavs by annihilating them by 40, that it said "Lebron has silenced the Wiz"? That's the kind of crap that is so ludicrous it blows my mind...

How many times did GIl do just that in the 4th quarter of game 1 and EVERYBODY missed wide open 3's?

Yeah ... CP instead just punches the other guy in the balls when things aren't going his way. Hopefully, that incident with Julius Hodge taught him a good lesson that you just got to let your play be the final word.

But I do agree that CP has 100 times more class than the chosen one. Just because you can't get your way every single time, doesn't mean you have the right to a temper tantrum on the court. If he doesn't clean up this entitlement act and becomes the face of the NBA like the NBA and ESPN are shoving down our throats, then the NBA is going to have some serious marketing troubles in the future (worse than even now).

How about the headline ... "LeBron misses layup, Wizards win"? Any chance if Caron and LeBron roles were reversed in Game 5, that tthe headlines would be that Caron missed the layup and the Cavs won?

if anyone here follows english premiership...i have the same exact feelings for c.ronaldo. one of the best in the world at his craft and demands respect with his performances, but simply fails as a man. seriously, all the antics, convulsions, and, especially, the pouty faces after a non-favorable call are just unmanly.

whoever mentioned sense of entitlement - that is, imo, the root cause of the problem, exacerbated by immaturity and media.

Queen James Travels is what should be chanted instead of Overrated... The "man" is a complete jackass. It is one thing to get a competitive advantage by working the refs, but it is another thing for a superstar who gets tons of calls already and travels like he's retired to complain, whine, bitch, and moan like a child when he doesn't get a call his way, and god forbid the man gets an offensive foul. I mean, CMON, the guy lowers his shoulder, takes 9 steps into someone, and then if he doesn't get the call he bitches, and if he gets an offensive foul he acts like someone stole his lolly pop on the play ground the way he pouts and cries like the nancy he is. And seriously, is it really necessary for the queen to throw his head back like he has been punched in the face EVERY TIME someone bumps him. Sure, people act in the NBA to get calls, that is nothing new. But that is a punk, cheap move that I expect from some d-league scrub flopper like Verajao, but not from someone that the NBA is pushing down our throats as the greatest player in history. It is a cheap move, and he sits there and pretends like his fat ugly lip is bleeding. This is such a joke, and sets such a bad example for the how to play the game. I don't want to call it "cheating" but I hope once flopping is considered a technical, "Lebroning" is too. Here is a picture of Queen Travel of Whinetopia,
