GA will not stay if AJ goes

Gilbert Arenas insists he won't return to the Washington Wizards if forward Antawn Jamison isn't re-signed by the team.

"If he doesn't come back, I'm not coming back," Arenas said Wednesday in a posting on his blog, a rambling entry of more than 2,800 words.

Sign and trade him then because Arenas doesn't want this team to really improve. We will be stuck with Jamison until he retires and Eddie Jordan as the coach until he dies if it was up to Arenas.

Seriously. If you allow Gil to dictate like this, then the inmates will be running the asylum.

If he's really serious in this threat, I'd see if we could move him. Maybe not right away, but could you encourage him to come back for just 1 year to showcase his talents (when uninjured)?

Empty threat anyway considering Ernie was intending to re-sign Tawn and said so since early in the season. The only risk is if AJ gets an offer too good to resist, but sounds like he likes the situation here enough to even take a hometown discount if needed. He'll be well compensated for what-all he means to the team, the question in his case has more to do with length of contract. Gil is a different story but mostly because Gil is different breed of cat than anybody else.

I still really don't like this. Arenas is not the GM, and needs to respect that fact.

Exactly. It's time to trade this overrated bum. He's nothing but a loud-mouthed shot jacker. Caron is the real leader of this team anyways. We did more than fine without Gilbert this year. Just look at what Caron did in game 5 of the playoffs against Cleveland.

We need to get rid of dead weight like Gilbert to take the next step. He's the one holding this team back. His return would only take shots away from DeShawn and stunt the development of Nick, Pech & our upcoming pick.

Trade him to Portland for Jarret Jack, Raef LaFrentz & a future 1st rounder in 2012.

With our roster sans Gilbert and good health, we can possibly top 45 wins and push Cleveland to 7 games next year!

Yawn! Gilbert running his mouth again. Wouldn't it be funny if we did re-sign AJ, and traded HIS a*s?

Get us a top PG, draft a quality PF, and we are right back in the mix....even with EJ as our coach.

as a raptors fan who has been though this before with VC, let me tell you you want nothing to do with this guy. Giving in to his whims is a sure fire way to kill your team.

I don't know why you guys are making such a big deal
about this. Gil basically said this 2 weeks ago.

Hell, I'm not sure I would come back if AJ wasn't
going to be resigned.

And no....we would not be fine with Caron as the
#1 option. Caron is a #2 on a really good team.

There's no shame in that.

And where exactly do you get this top PG and quality
PF from?

This years draft is one of the deepest in years. I would have no problem doing a S&T to get Lowery or a shot a getting Derrick Rose for Gilbert. Marreese Speights might be available where we pick (17-19?)

I also would trade to get a higher pick in the second round. I think Lester Hudson might be one of the steals of the draft, and would make a good back-up once AD is off- the books.

Haywood
Speights
Etan
Blatche

We would have enough muscle to get by the Cavs next time.

:eek1:

Portland may be one of the top teams in the west by 2012 with the talent they've got + Arenas. Arenas isnt Kobe, but two marginal starters and a roll of the dice late first round pick?? I'm really not for trading Gil unless we get some real value in return. Blow up the team because Gil wrote another blog? I dont see this as that big of a deal. Why the heck wouldn't we sign AJ if he isn't commanding top money?

Arenas must exercise his ETO by June 30, or he is under contract for next season. He cant exercise it after that date.

So this is a useless comment from him. Jamison cant talk to other teams until July 1 - and he'll probably see what is out there. So the odds are that he will not have re-signed by June 30, the date that GA must exercise his ETO

Nothing has changed. EG planned on bring both back anyway.

Just keep your eyes on the 2009/10 season or maybe the trade dead line next year. That is when things would change if needed.

Gil needs to learn how to communicate with his coach before he goes popping off on his blog. To me it seems to be all Gil all the time. Even if we re-sign Gil and Twan. What realistically are our prospects for the next 2-3 years. Can we even get out of the 2nd round. I am not saying we should ship Gilbert out of town ala Chris Webber, but if we can move to the next level by trading him or anyone else on the roster, we should do it.

How long is it going to be before he starts writing in his blog that he can't work with EJ anymore. You know that is coming next.

I don't think he was being sarcastic, he put together a pretty good, serious post there.

But for real, Jamison is a 20/10 guy, there's no way we just let him walk. If anything we sign him, and look to move him before next year's trade deadline. EG would have to be a nutcase to let him walk, if anything he's probably somewhere smirking because Gil is just stating the obvious.

Much ado about nothing.

Just Gil being Gil. He's just trying to get his buddy a couple of extra bucks and they're both coming back anyway. Ernie's said so and in Ernie I trust.
