Who's going to help us contain Lebron?

I know the mods here are really strict about starting new threads, but I think this is a critical question for us and worthy of it's own thread... We need to wakeup and realize we're not going anywhere untill we find a way to contain this guy. 3 straight years now, **** that!

At some point their FO is going to get it together and put the right pieces around him and it'll get tougher than it already is. Face it, Lebron is our reality for the next 10-15 years, and he has got to be the focus. It'd be nice to say with team defense, but same coach 3 years same players yet he knocked us off again with a poor team around him at that. We need somene to lesson the need to colapse so often and heavily, a unique talent...

So the question I ask, who in the NBA/NCAA has the best talent, ability, and body to contain Lebron the best? Before anyone says it, I understand there'll never be anyone who can completely shut him down, but there sure as hell are guys who defend him alot better than others.

So who? Marion, AK47, Gay, Artest? Ideally someone who's tall(min 6'7), agile, decent strength, and likes a challenge. There may be someone out there who won't cost all that much at all(MLE or under type money) or a late 1st rounder. Although, when considering bigtime trades it's a huge bonus we should consider and the only reason I'd even consider a Marion deal. So guys, help me out here, I've been meaning to post on here about this for a while...

No one besides double teams. You can't stop LeBron. He'll get his points and since the Cavs are a good defensive team, they'll always give LeBron the margin to take over and finish you off.

Its a matter of a good defensive team vs. one that stinks. What scares me is if the Cavs land Michael Redd and Zach Randolph. We're even more screwed.

the better question is who is going to help us get Lebron when he becomes an unrestricted free agent?

huh..one of the best defensive players in league...caron butler. If he was healthy he would shut down Lebron better than tayshaun prince.

WizDynasty, I think he was asking how we could sign him.

But yeah no one person can completely contain him. Certainly not Caron Butler. The Celtics did a good job by swarming him with multiple defenders and he still single handedly forced a 7 game series.

We need to get these guys to call the games correct, 2-1/2 steps.

If he's good enough to contain Lebron, he must have legs shaped like a wishbone. He hides it well under his baggy shorts though.

I hear this kid Dominic McGuire is a pretty decent defender. It's just hear say though. I haven't actually seen the kid play.

Earlier on in the season I said a big small forward is a something we should have. Various reasons, to move caron to shooting gaurd to create mismatches, to have defensively someone who has the size to defend the lebrons, carmelos and Turkoglu's. The people defensively who I think can do so are Battier and Artest. Those players have the size and strength to be used as primary defenders on lebron, behind whom we can develop schemes to continue the containment. Stevenson in my mind is working uphill playing against a 6 9' 250 pound phenom.
So artest and Battier are primary in this role on my wish list. Also I wouldnt be against giving up Jamison or Gil for carmelo so we can be the ones creating the problems , he's just as good if not better scorer. Another idea for that slot is I would actually make offers to chicago and miami so i can try and draft Beasley and use him as a Small forward/PF the same roles lebron can play. From conversations with his god brother I heard he played pickup ball with Melo and Kenyon martin, something george karl snuck in to watch (despite the rules) this kid will be a beast in NBA. I'm honestly expecting him to have seasons in line with Lebron, Carmelos, AL thornton and Durants first seasons. But getting him is more complicated even though I feel it would be worth it, he can be the most impact player on our team.
6 8'/ 6 9' guys who are athletic are player types that i love. The game is easier to them.

I agree that this is one of our biggest needs, and think the thread should stay open for specific discussion.

I've noted a couple of other places that I'd be cool with going the small PF route instead of the big SF route to find a defensive role player. Guys like Millsap, C. Hayes, Landry, Powe, Dudley, and a few others are people who would be nice to have as designated Lebron stoppers.

Landry's a free agent already. Cap considerations aside, I think he'd be worth a solid near-MLE deal from us, even if there's a chance he turns into Kenny Thomas II.

Acquiring DJ White through the draft is another option, though he'd need to lose some weight/add some quickness, and he'd take a few years to be ready.

Instead of wasting a roster spot on a Lebron stopping specialist we should just start a collection for an outside contractor.

Could go with the hooker/crackpipe/video combination, it's what finally got Marion Barry who I thought we'd never get past.

"The b*tch set me up" . . . ah, quit whining about the calls LeBron
