The Laron Profit Shrine - Part II

I did a search for Scabs' original Laron Profit thread b/c I wanted to be a smartass about knowing how EG could spend the $$ leftover for FAs - now that Gil's left $$ on the table.
But the darn original thread is gone. The "topic no longer exists".
Let's use this thread to renew our commitment to The Ron. Ernie - you KNOW who you can sign as a FA. Make it happen!
Laron for the Wiz in 08-09.

I can't believe that all that serious, pithy commentary was just erased from the record. What is this? Argentina?
Che Laron lives!

My favorite Laron Profit memory was during a game versus the Bucks. It was a really close game - and pretty physical. I remember that, with about 2 minutes left, the Wizards started to pull away. As the Bucks called a time out, Laron got off of his seat at the end of the bench and started waving his towel in such a manner that it really fired up the crowd.
A real pro move.
Ahhh......memories of Laron.

^^^ That's a good one. My favorite Laron moment was when he recorded a triple-double, while simultaneously saving the life of a cat in a tree across from (at that time) the MCI Center.
A class act, indeed.

Once one gains knowlege of self, only then can he begin to fathom the world creating power of the Profit.

By recording a triple double you mean he was taping a Nets game where Jason Kidd had 13 pts, 10 rebounds and 11 assists...

Of course. He was making recording of all of Kidd's mistakes so he could then go instruct Kidd how the game really should be played.

What a nice guy, even helping out his opponents.

Hey, don't we still have $1.5M to spend until we hit the luxury tax line?
I wonder who we can sign for that kind of money???
Hmmm...

I vaguely remember Laron tipping in a game winner for the Wiz and how pumped I was for him. This did happen, right?

$1.5mill is kind of an insult for a consistent triple double threat.

Oh, the honor of being on the first page of the new shrine.
Even from the ashes of having all of the previous praise of the The Great One erased, he still brings joy.
He is the Phoenix.

Sports Bog: Who was the funniest teammate you ever had?
Chris Whitney: Probably Laron Profit. He would just say anything. He was crazy. Good guy, great guy, but crazy. He had this thing he would always do, I think the referee's name was Hugh Evans. [Profit] would make a move [in practice], and if you bumped him, he would just yell out 'Oh come on Hugh! You've got to call that!"
And we would sit there like, 'Who is Hugh? Who are you talking about?' Until he told us--'Hugh, the referee!'-- and it became that everything we did in practice, we was like, 'Come on, Hugh!' Next thing you know, Rip Hamilton, everyone, walking around, like 'Come on, Hugh!" If anybody did everything, it was Hugh's fault.

Count me in as a Laron Bronta fan. Kwame + Laron was a great dynamic duo.

The Wizards (and the rest of the league) blundered BIG TIME when they let Profit go overseas after the 2000-01 season. In his rookie year, Profit posted a PPA of -14 -- a learning year for The Ron. The next season: 72 -- an 86 point improvement! The following season, The Ron would have leaped to 158; followed by 244 in year 4, which is league MVP territory. F-ing Ernie.

Pretty interesting, Nivek. I had no idea he is now an Orlando Magic assistant coach.
