Could you see, or would you be for trading them both for large expiring contracts($18+ million), a solid young prospect or two, and 2 future first rounders?

It depends on how "solid" the young prospect is and how high those picks are.

Overall, I don't see a scenario where we would trade away Arenas for exprings, not when he'd be only 50 games back from microfracture surgery.

It's possible that we could look to trade Jamison if he's not producing. But if he's not producing, we wouldn't be able to trade his contract; so it's a moot point.

I would give resounding yes to the trade ideas in your hypothetical scenario.

However, Washington would have to find trade partners for those players whose stocks would be lower but contract $ high. If Gil has a bad year it will only be because his knee isn't right and I think at his salary noboby would want to take that on.

Jamison's the guy I could see going if they're a 9/10 seed. More likely, however, is the Wizards stick with him and fire the coaches.

I don't see the Wizards trading either player, but I'd be for whatever helps the team win. I like Jamison a whole lot for everything he stands for but still want the team's success first.

The only way I would see us trading Jamison at the trade deadline would be if Blatche made a dramatic leap in the offseason and simply forced his way into the starting lineup. If Jamison was still producing well at the time, then it might make sense to trade him for a better contract and a better fit.

On the other hand, Jamison himself would still be a pretty good (albiet, overpaid) fit as a 6th man extraordinare at SF/PF.

Barring other injuries, if Blatche makes a dramatic leap there's no way the Wizards would be a 9 or 10 seed.

The day that kid does so thoroughly outplay a still-vital, active, Jamison, and makes AJ the sixth man, is the day the Wizards can look forward to at least making to the ECFs or overall Finals.

Arenas is a 26-year-old superstar. All those proposals are essentially cap relief, role players, and late picks. There is no potential to replace Arenas with those packages. The best one of the bunch is the Atlanta deal because at least Williams is a solid starter and those picks might be fairly high. But I still wouldn't do it. I wouldn't even consider it.

To get Arenas, the minimum offer would have to be cap relief plus a fairly high lotto pick. Anything else and we hang up the phone.

Realistically, barring any injuries...the coaches would go first. Praise ye the Lord.

I think having a 6 year $111 million contract would really hurt his trade value, don't you?

Butler has way more trade value than Arenas at this point.

And with his contract and age, if he declines from last year Jamison might actually have "negative" trade value...

I can certainly understand why you wouldn't want to do this.... I agree that this is extremely unrealistic and likely will go thru a coach and a few years before giving up on this "big 3" approach...

Yeah, firing EJ is where I'd start.

We are not going to be in 9th or 10th place in 2008/09, more like 2nd or 3rd place. Lets hope EG will ad someone at the deadline to make the push to the finals.
